Historical evolution

From the Northern Song Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty

Han Shi's predecessor was Hanshan academy built in Song Dynasty. It was an official Academy of state (road, government and road) in song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. In 1691, it was located in the south of Hanwen temple at the foot of Bijia mountain, and has continued to this day.

In the 30th year of Kangxi (1691) of the Qing Dynasty, the Taoist priest Qixian rebuilt the Academy at Cai MengYue temple on the left side of Han temple at the foot of Bijia mountain.

In September 1732, the magistrate long Weilin built an extension along the old site, which was completed in March of the next year. It was renamed "Hanshan academy".

In 1903, after the promulgation of the Charter of the imperial normal school, China began to have specialized institutions for normal education, so Hanshan Academy was transformed into huichaojia normal school, becoming the first batch of normal schools in China and the first normal school in Guangdong Province.

The history of the ancient library came to an end. Huichaojia normal school is one of the first new schools in the history of modern education in China to imitate the western education system.

The period of the Republic of China

In 1911, huichaojia normal school was changed to huichaomei normal school in Guangdong Province.

In October 1921, the school was renamed as "Guangdong Provincial Second Normal School". During the period of the second normal school, the scale of the school continued to expand.

In 1935, it was renamed "Hanshan Normal School of Guangdong Province".

In June 1939, due to the fall of Chaozhou after the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, Han division was forced to move to weizhai, gugou Township, Jieyang County, in May when the Japanese invaders stepped into Shantou. At that time, Hanshi was "the only remaining provincial middle school" in Chaoshan area.

In the second half of 1944, due to the approaching war, Han Shi moved to Yu village, Huizhai country, Jieyang County, which was located in the Dabei mountain area. He borrowed the site of Chongzheng primary school to run the school.

After the founding of new China

In the spring of 1946, Han Shi moved back to the original site of Chaozhou, and the middle school department was transferred to Jinshan middle school. In the autumn of 1958, it was upgraded to a higher normal college, named "Shantou Hanshan Normal College", which enrolled students in huichaomei area. In the autumn of 1963, the normal college was closed and returned to normal school and teacher training school. In 1978, with the approval of the State Council, the normal college was established again, with the name of "Hanshan Normal College".

In December 1993, approved by the State Education Commission, it was upgraded to the undergraduate Normal University, known as "Hanshan Normal University".

In April 1998, Guangdong Provincial Academic Degrees Committee approved Hanshan Normal University as a new Bachelor degree awarding unit.

In 2000, Hanshan Normal University began to cooperate with South China Normal University to train postgraduates.

In 2001, according to the arrangement of the Provincial Department of education, Chaozhou normal school was changed into the secondary college of Hanshan Normal University. Chaozhou normal school is still subordinate to the Education Bureau of Chaozhou City, but the enrollment is under the management of Hanshan Normal University, and the education quality is under the supervision of Hanshan Normal University.

In 2008, Hanshan Normal University received the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment organized by the Ministry of education and got excellent results, and ushered in its 105th anniversary.

In 2009, Chaozhou City and Han Normal University jointly built the chaoxue Research Institute.

In 2013, Hanshan Normal University celebrated its 110th anniversary.

In May 2017, Hanshan Normal University and South China Normal University signed the framework agreement on joint training of master of education to carry out joint training of master of education.

On June 19, 2019, the Thai Chinese and overseas Chinese (chaoxue) Institute in Southeast Asia, jointly built by mahilon University of Thailand and Hanshan Normal University of Guangdong, China, was inaugurated in Bangkok. The Institute was established to promote the study of overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia and the interdisciplinary study of Chaoshan culture.

Faculty

By the end of September 2017, there were 1128 faculty members in the University, including 826 full-time teachers. Among the teachers, 75.4% and 40.2% of the full-time teachers had master's degree, doctoral degree and senior professional and technical title respectively.
