In the Yuan Dynasty, foreign missionaries practiced medicine and preached here. At that time, there was only one private house. Two churches were built in the second year of Yuantong (1334). In the church, there is a pair of stone lions and dogs (stored in the Cultural Relics Bureau), one male and one female. The female lions and dogs are engraved with the words "auspicious in town and proud in Huailin". Emperor Shizu of the Yuan Dynasty watched the mass in person. The cathedral was built in 1531, 16.6 meters long and 10 meters wide. The plaque above the gate is inscribed with the four words "true source of all things". In 1895, the church was extended to the East with nine rooms, 30 meters wide and 10 meters deep. It can accommodate more than 400 people. There is a plaque on the screen inside the gate, which reads "fraternity is cherished". The church is wrapped with green bricks and lined with stone walls, which is more than 7 meters high. The south wall is equipped with Gothic style pointed arch floor windows, and the top of the church is equipped with white minarets. The eastern part of the church is the altar, the western part is the music building, and the top is the dome. After the July 7th incident, Wei Lihuang, the general of the Kuomintang, set up his headquarters in the church when he blocked the attack of the Japanese invaders in Mount Jiji. In 1939, the church was destroyed by the Japanese army. The period of "Cultural Revolution" was destroyed. It was rebuilt in 1989. In 1993, father Shi Huiwen led his congregation to restore Mount Everest. In 1997, the church was rebuilt and a 21 meter high bell tower was built. In 1999, it was rebuilt and the altar was added.
