Broad development prospects
Dafeng port plans to build two 35000 DWT multi-purpose terminals and one 10000 DWT oil and gas terminal in Beigang District in about 10 years. Historic step
In April 2008, the international route from Dafeng port to Pusan port of South Korea was officially opened.

On September 20, 2007, the construction of a 70000 DWT bulk cargo berth and a 40000 DWT bulk cargo berth started. At present, the main project is basically completed, and the hydraulic engineering and equipment installation are planned to be completed and put into use before October 2009.
By the end of the 11th Five Year Plan period, Dafeng port will have 8 berths with an annual throughput capacity of 15 million tons of bulk cargo and 300000 TEUs, opening routes to major ports in Japan, South Korea and China; by 2020, it will have 34 berths with an annual throughput capacity of 50 million tons of bulk cargo and 1 million TEUs, opening routes to important ports in Europe and America, becoming the largest port in Central Jiangsu In the long run, it will become another 100 million ton coastal port in China.
