Shangqiu Museum

Shangqiu Museum Museum, located 1.5km southwest of Shangqiu ancient city, Suiyang District, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, adjacent to the theme park of Chinese business cultural heritage in the West and Huashang Avenue in the south, is the first museum in China to display the history and civilization of business culture, also known as the "Museum of Chinese business culture", and the largest comprehensive museum in Shangqiu City to fully display the ancient and modern civilization history of Shangqiu. In 2010, the new Shangqiu Museum officially started construction, and on June 6, 2016, the new Shangqiu Museum officially opened.

According to Tencent News in July 2020, the new Shangqiu Museum covers an area of 73333 square meters, with a total construction area of 29672 square meters, including 7750 square meters of exhibition hall. The collection of cultural relics is 20000, most of which are unearthed from field archaeological excavations or collected by folk in Shangqiu.

Shangqiu museum was awarded the advanced collective of Henan cultural system. Shangqiu museum was awarded the demonstration base of patriotism education in Henan Province. Shangqiu Museum won the second prize of the most beautiful building in Henan Province.

Historical evolution

Old Shangqiu Museum

The old Shangqiu museum is located in the northwest of the intersection of Kaixuan Road and Bayi Road in Liangyuan District of Shangqiu City. From 1958 to 1983, it was the former Shangqiu agricultural exhibition hall, which became Shangqiu Museum in 1983.

 

The old Shangqiu museum is an exhibition room imitating Eurasian architecture, with a practical area of 2700 square meters. On October 1, 1989, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China, a large-scale exhibition of Shangqiu historical relics was held and opened to the public. The basic display of Shangqiu museum is the exhibition of Shangqiu historical relics, which is divided into four topics. Due to the needs of urban development and construction, the museum was demolished in 2004. Since then, there has been no Municipal Museum in Shangqiu for nearly 12 years.

 

New Shangqiu Museum

The new Shangqiu museum is located 1.5km southwest of Shangqiu ancient city, Suiyang District, Shangqiu City, adjacent to Chinese business culture square in the West and Chinese business Avenue in the south, with a total area of 110.419 mu, a total construction area of 29672 square meters, and a exhibition area of 7750 square meters.

 

In December 2009, the foundation of the new Shangqiu museum was laid and construction started in 2010. In January 2016, the new museum began to arrange the exhibition hall, which ended on May 13, opened on May 18, and officially opened on June 6.

From the steps and ramps in the north of Huashang Avenue, you can climb the platform and enter the Museum Hall along the large approach bridge. Standing above the hall, you can overlook the background wall of the preface hall, which is up to 12 meters high, and appreciate the mysterious, profound and remote history of the development of Chinese business culture. From the preface hall down to the hall on the first floor, you can enter the shared hall, which is 18 meters high and symbolizes the ancient city of guidefu. You can visit each exhibition hall from bottom to top along the ramp.

 

Basic Exhibition

The basic display of Shangqiu museum is divided into two parts, namely "Shangqiu Ancient Civilization Exhibition" and "commercial civilization Exhibition", which shows a wonderful chapter of Shangqiu's profound culture and Chinese commercial civilization. It is understood that the Shangqiu Museum has a total collection of nearly 20000 cultural relics, most of which are from field archaeological excavations and folk collections in Eastern Henan. Its main collection includes bronzes, jades, pottery figurines, gilt, silver chariots and horses, etc.

 

The origin of Shangqiu

In the exhibition of the origin of Shangqiu, there are Ivory fossils, rhinoceros teeth, antlers, historical relics unearthed from wangpofang, Mengzhuang and other ancient cultural sites, reflecting the social production and life of Shangqiu's Paleolithic, Neolithic and Shang ancestors.

 

Ancient song and spring and Autumn

The spring and Autumn period of the Ancient Song Dynasty refers to the early Western Zhou Dynasty, where Feng Weizi founded the state of song. In the spring and Autumn period, he was one of the five tyrants. There are bronze tripods, Warring States cloth coins, the hometown of Zhuang Zhou, Confucius' returning ancestral temple, Confucius' shelter from the rain, and the photos of the excavation site of the ancient song city by the United States and China.

 

The soul of Han and Liang Dynasties

Han Dynasty cultural relics are the main collection of Shangqiu Museum, and also the most important and prominent part of Shangqiu historical relics exhibition, with a total of four exhibition rooms. 1. It mainly displays the rubbings of the broken snake stele of Liu Bang, Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty carved in the Ming Dynasty, all kinds of pottery figurines unearthed from the Han tomb in Shiyuan, Mangdangshan, all kinds of bronze mirrors of the Western Han Dynasty, as well as the historical relics of the Han Dynasty Tombs such as pottery pigsty, sheep pen, toilet, pottery warehouse, and Puman, and the schematic model of No.2 tomb in Baoan mountain. There are also large-scale murals of Shiyuan cliff tomb by teachers and students of Beijing Central Academy of fine arts; 2. It mainly displays the jade clothes (Restoration) unearthed from Fushan Han Dynasty tomb and many exquisite jade articles, golden sheep head, golden lion head and all kinds of gilded bronze articles; 3. It mainly displays the restored stone tombs of Han Dynasty paintings in Shangqiu. The tomb, 7.41 meters long, is a joint burial of husband and wife. It has 12 stone reliefs with convex surface and low relief. The contents of the stone reliefs include 16 pictures of dance music, dragon, tiger, Phoenix, bird, pastoral hunting and auspicious animals. 4. The main display is stone reliefs of Han Dynasty. The main content of the portrait is some ancient myths and legends, auspicious and evil, riding, hunting and fighting animals and a large number of patterns. The art of these stone carvings is primitive, rough, bold, and full of artistic charm.

 

Huang Huai

The Huang Huai situation reflected the activities of the Taiping Army and the New Fourth Army in Shangqiu, such as the founding of our party in Shangqiu, the founding of the Anti Japanese base in Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu and Shandong under the leadership of Comrade Peng Xuefeng, the founding of the General Front Committee of the Huaihai Campaign by Liu, Deng, Chen and Su, the total annihilation of the Kuomintang Du Yuming group in Chenguanzhuang area of Yongcheng, and the great victory of the Huaihai Campaign. In the exhibition, the headquarters of General Yang Yong in the battle of zhanggongdian is restored, and the modern cultural relics such as four-wheel emergency vehicles and one wheel handcarts used by the people of Eastern Henan in the Huaihai Campaign are mainly displayed.

 

Special exhibition

Since its establishment, Shangqiu Museum has held five special exhibitions, including oracle bone inscriptions, bronzes and jades, Shang Dynasty cultural relics exhibition, Han Dynasty portrait stone rubbings exhibition, famous calligraphy and painting works exhibition, Nanyang Han Dynasty pottery dog exhibition and Han Dynasty portrait stone rubbings exhibition.

 

Baguanzhai

The stone building "baguanzhai" is one of the important calligraphy works of Yan Zhenqing in the Tang Dynasty.

 

Architectural features

The overall design of Shangqiu Museum adopts a new concept, which originates from the ancient city culture and business culture, and integrates typical cultural elements into the building, which is a major feature of Shangqiu Museum Architectural Design. The main plane design implies the cultural elements of the ancient city of Shangqiu, including the outline, the lake and the brick city. The upper parts of the East and West corners of the south facade of the main exhibition hall are slightly upward, symbolizing the two wings of a bird, implying that "Xuanniao begets business". The shape of the upper, middle and lower layers is a metaphor for the special cultural heritage of the ancient city of Shangqiu, which is formed by the overlapping of many cities in the history of Shangqiu. It also reflects the exhibition layout of the museum from bottom to top and from ancient to present.

 

Collection

Shangqiu Museum has a collection of nearly 20000 cultural relics, most of which are unearthed from field archaeological excavations or collected by the people in Shangqiu City. Its main collection includes bronzes, jades, pottery figurines, gilt and silver chariots and horses unearthed from the Liangyuan Mausoleum of the Western Han Dynasty. The stone carvings of the Eastern Han Dynasty in the collection have a wide range of subjects, mature carving techniques, and vivid figures and animals.

 

Jade clothes

Jinzouyi is located in the second Hall of basic Exhibition on the second floor of Shangqiu Museum and the exhibition hall of Hanxing.

Golden Jade dress is the highest standard funeral dress in Han Dynasty, which appeared in the Wenjing period of Western Han Dynasty. At that time, people were very superstitious that jade could maintain the immortality of bones, and even regarded jade as a noble ritual vessel and a symbol of identity. The jade clothes in this museum are unearthed from the Han tombs of Huangtu mountain in Mangdangshan, Shangqiu City in the 1990s. They are 170 cm long and have been exhibited in Japan for several months. There are only two pieces of jade clothes on display in Henan Province. One of them was unearthed in Henan Museum in 1986 from Fushan Han tomb in Mangdangshan, Yongcheng City, Henan Province. It is 1.76 meters long and made of 2008 pieces of jade woven with gold wire. It is the burial object of the king of Liang state in the Western Han Dynasty. The other is the one of Shangqiu Museum, which is also the treasure of the museum.
