A stone suddenly cracked behind the mountain. The crack was like a "dragon's mouth" and bubbled out a clear spring. For a time, it was said that Huanglong flew with Huikai, hence the name. Huanglong cave is a rockery cave made of rocks near the mountain. To be exact, it is a courtyard garden with unique charm and bright and quiet. At the northern foot of qixialing, the north mountain of the West Lake, in the depth of luxuriant forests and bamboo trees, lies the historic site of Huanglong cave, which is a Taoist paradise. Since the Southern Song Dynasty, it has enjoyed a high reputation as one of the five dragon worship spots on the lake. Among the 24 sceneries of Hangzhou in the Qing Dynasty, there is a scene named "Huangshan Jicui". Huanglong cave preserves the gate of the original Taoist temple. The scenic spot is a pool of clear water, a dragon spitting clear spring, and a pool pouring water. It is engraved with the famous sentence "water is not deep, if there is a dragon, it will work properly" in Liu Yuxi's "humble chamber inscription" of Tang Dynasty, which either stands alone, or gathers stones, or stacks to form a peak. From afar, the stone peaks are like a forest, with heavy mountains and emerald trees; from inside, they are confused and zigzag, clear and ethereal, with both vigorous style and elegant style.
Interior landscape
Huanglong cave preserves the entrance of the original Taoist temple. The double eaves of the mountain gate are tilted, and the shape is simple. On both sides of the gate, there are golden couplets hanging on the blue bottom, saying: "the Yellow River is inexhaustible; Laozi is still alive.". 》This couplet is one of the best couplets in the West Lake. The first reading of the couplet seems to be incomplete and its meaning is difficult to understand. In fact, it uses a rhetorical device of ellipsis, cleverly purifies the characters of Huang, and its name is Lao Tzu Qi you long ye? 》(Confucius praises Laozi) is omitted. This couplet says that since the Yellow Emperor, Taoism has never dried up like the water in a deep pool, while Laozi is a great man like a dragon who has become an immortal. The rhetorical devices of Tibetan characters also make people associate with the saying of "the Dragon sees the head but not the tail".
The main scenic area of Huanglong cave is a pool of clear water, surrounded by rockeries and pavilions. Across the pool, a large yellow dragon head sculpture with eyes bulging, nose lifting, mouth opening and whisker raising appears on the evergreen dangerous rock. The dragon's mouth spits out the clear spring and pours into the pool. The sound of the water is like a zither. At the entrance of the clear spring to the pool, a towering boulder stands in the water. On both sides, the famous sentence "water is not deep, if there is a dragon, it will work properly" in Liu Yuxi's humble chamber inscription of Tang Dynasty is engraved respectively, which points out the theme of the landscape here.
The rockery of Huanglong cave is built with heavy yellow sand stones according to the ups and downs of the mountain and terrain. It is quite different from the style of Suzhou garden rockery which is famous for its exquisite and typical style. It shows that the gardening art of mountain forest temples is close to nature, integrates with nature, and has the advantages and charm of deep ingenuity and no trace.

Huanglong cave is based on a solemn and stirring folk story. It is said that in ancient times, there lived two yellow dragons, one old and the other small, in Ziyun Cave not far from here. One day, old Huanglong suddenly committed a crime and burned Hangzhou city with fire. Xiao Huanglong led people to pour water from the West Lake into Ziyun Cave, drowned old Huanglong and put out the fire; and Xiao Huanglong also died in the fight. People buried the little yellow dragon in tears. Tears seeped into the heart of the little yellow dragon and overflowed from his mouth, so a small waterfall flowed from his grave. In order to commemorate the little Huanglong, people put this yellow dragon head on the place where the waterfall flows out, and named this place "Huanglong cave". It became a famous Taoist temple in Hangzhou in the late Qing Dynasty and is still well preserved today.
