Historical changes
Memorabilia
In 1934, there was a zoo attached to Tianxin Park in Changsha. Most of the animals in the park were ordinary birds and animals, with a total of more than 20 species and some exotic species.
In 1951, an animal shed was set up in the children's Park on the site of the Chinese Christian Church. Wang Shoudao, then Secretary of the provincial Party committee, gave a pair of sika deer to the children's Park. Tigers, leopards and parrots were also sent to the children.
In 1956, the children's Park was changed into "children's home", and the animal shed was demolished. Tigers raised in the park were given away to Beijing Zoo, and other animals, such as sika deer and leopard, were handed over to the animal exhibition area of Martyrs Park, which is being built.
On September 1, 1956, the animal exhibition area of Martyrs Park was opened to tourists. In 1957, the municipal government invested 24000 yuan to build a new zoo in the north of the Martyrs Park and in the west of heshangpo.
In January 1958, the animals in qinglongmiao animal exhibition area were moved to the new zoo. Animal breeding group was set up, which was under the management of Martyrs Park.
In 1967, the Changsha Municipal Party committee and Urban Construction Bureau decided to separate the martyr park from the zoo with a wall, and set up a separate door on the right side of the seventh middle school of Changsha City. At this point, the zoo was separated from Hunan Martyrs Park and called Changsha Zoo.
After the separation from Martyrs Park, the two parks are separated by walls, which brings inconvenience to visitors. After approval, a side door was opened in 1983 at the southeast wall of martyr park and zoo to connect the two parks.

Memories of garden history
In the 1930s, there were 22 kinds of residents in zoos
"The earliest zoo in Changsha is recorded in an old book Changsha City guide written by Zou yubai." Liu Wei, director of the historical documents Department of Hunan Provincial Library, told reporters. She then found out about the book: "the zoo attached to Tianxin Park, western style architecture The smell is still rare Five points for each ticket Most of the animals kept in the park are ordinary ones, and some of them are exotic, which can arouse the audience
Liu Wei said that the book was published in January 1934, indicating that Changsha Zoo first appeared before 1934. At that time, the "residents" of the zoo were also recorded in detail by Mr. Zou yubai: "big leopard, big flower wild."
