Former residence of Tang Shaoyi
The former residence of Tang Shaoyi, the first Prime Minister of the Republic of China, is located at 99 Shanfang Road, Tangjia ancient town. The back seat was built by Tang Shaoyi's grandfather in the Qing Dynasty, and the front seat was expanded by Tang Shaoyi in 1929.

Tang Shaoyi was born and lived here. Tang Shaoyi's former residence is a two-story building with a width of 12.3 meters and a depth of 11.6 meters. The right one was built in the Qing Dynasty by Tang Shaoyi's grandfather, and the left one was expanded in 1929 by Tang Shaoyi himself.
In 1980, it was announced as a cultural relic protection unit in Zhuhai City.
Life of the characters
Tang Shaoyi (1862-1938) was named Shaochuan. Guangdong Xiangshan County (now Zhuhai City) people.
In 1874, the Qing government selected the third group of children to study in the United States and admitted them to Columbia University.
After returning to China in 1881, he first worked in the Westernization school attached to Tianjin Navy, and then worked in Tianjin tax office.
In 1885, he went to Korea as a Western translator and Westernization Affairs Commissioner to assist Yuan Shikai in tax affairs. In 1894, he took over Yuan Shikai's post of "prime minister's negotiation and trade" in Korea.
After returning to China in 1898, he successively held the posts of Tianjin Customs Road, right servant of the Ministry of foreign affairs, general office of Shanghai Nanjing and Beijing Han railway, Secretary of the Ministry of post and communication, and governor of Fengtian.
In 1904, he was appointed by the Qing government as plenipotentiary minister to negotiate with the British in India to safeguard China's territorial sovereignty over Tibet.
In 1906, he took up the post of the new office of the Inland Revenue Department.
After the Wuchang Uprising in 1911, he served as the Plenipotentiary of Yuan Shikai's cabinet to participate in the north south peace talks, and then joined the Chinese League.
In 1912, he became the first Prime Minister of the Republic of China and made contributions to the abdication of the Qing emperor and the establishment of the republican system of the Republic of China. In June of the same year, he resigned because of his disagreement with Yuan Shikai.
In 1915, he called Yuan Shikai to oppose the restoration of the monarchy.
He joined Sun Yat Sen's French military government in 1917 and later became one of the seven presidents of the Guangzhou military government. In 1919, he attended the second North South peace conference as the general representative of the south.
In 1922, he was nominated as premier of the State Council by Li Yuanhong of the Beiyang government, but he was opposed by the Northern Warlords.
In 1929, he served as the chairman of Zhongshan County training and Administration Implementation Committee.
From 1930 to 1934, he was the head of Zhongshan model county. After the September 18th Incident, he served as a member of the national government.
After the Japanese army occupied Shanghai and Nanjing in 1938, they tried to use them as puppets, but he never replied. On September 30, he was assassinated by KMT juntong agents at his residence in Shanghai. On October 5, the national government allocated 5000 yuan for the funeral expenses for his death, and publicized his life story to the National Museum of history.
After returning from studying in the United States as a teenager, Tang Shaoyi went back to live in his hometown four times in 1910, 1914, 1921, 1929 and 1934, and built "xiaolinglong mountain hall", "private garden" and "wangci Mountain House" villas.
In 1932, when he was the head of Zhongshan model county, he changed the "small Linglong mountain Pavilion" into "common paradise" and gave it to Tang hometown. On March 3, 1989, when Tang Shaoyi's widow Wu Weiqiao led her son Tang Yu, daughter Tang Baoyu and Tang Baoshan back to their hometown, they donated the house to Tangjia Town People's government as an activity center for the elderly.
In 1987 and 1994, the Zhuhai Municipal People's government listed the Tang family paradise and Tang Shaoyi's former residence (including "wangcishan house") as municipal cultural relics protection units, and invested in the repair.
