Former residence of Tang Bohu
Tang Yin (1470-1523), a famous painter in the Ming Dynasty, was named "Bohu" and "Ziwei" because he won the first place in the local examination. After he converted to Buddhism, he was named Liuru (taking the meaning of the sentence in the Vajra Sutra that "all the dharmas are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, shadows, dew and electricity, so we should observe them as they are").
He lived in the north end of wuchifang in Suzhou (Gaoqiao Dongtu in Xizhong city), and later "Buzhu" Taohuawu.

Site of Tang Yin's former residence
Renovated in 1991, the existing building area of 511 square meters, facing south, can be roughly divided into two roads and two houses. The water pavilion built at the head of the West Road for linchi is 15.4 meters wide and 9 meters deep. It has a hard hilltop with a boat canopy and a round beam. The second entrance is the palace. On the east side of Shuige, there is a Qing Dynasty stone slab bridge "Qinglian bridge" across the pool to get in and out.
changes
In recent decades, a series of changes have taken place around the site of Tang Yin's former residence
There were two ponds on the south side, known as "double lotus pond". Now there is only one pond on the west side, which has become a "single lotus pond". The water quality of the pond is much lower than that of decades ago. The one in the East was filled out to build a house.
In the 1990s, there were only five families living in the former residence site. At the beginning of this century, there were 18 families living in the former residence site. At the most, there were 22 families living in the former residence site. The clutter of the environment can be seen from the patio. Here, the leather threads from the east wall to the west wall and from the south wall to the north wall are covered with colorful clothes, socks and insoles; the wires extend to every household like cobwebs; a mop is standing head down or head up
Historical records
Tang Yin (1470-1524), a gifted scholar and master of calligraphy and painting in Wuzhong, is also known as "four talents of Jiangnan" together with Zhu Yunming, Wen Zhengming and Xu Zhenqing, and "four schools of Wumen" together with Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming and Qiu Ying. The site of the former residence is located at No. 13, shuanghehuachi, xidayingmen, pingmen, which is Baohua nunnery, also known as Wenchang Pavilion. It was listed as a cultural relic protection unit of Suzhou in 1982.
"Taohua nunnery in Taohua nunnery, Taohua fairy in Taohua nunnery", a song of Taohua fairy by Tang Yin, is a true record of his living here. Taohua nunnery, which planted peach trees in Tang and Song Dynasties, is also famous all over the world. According to historical records, in the 18th year of Hongzhi (1505) and the 2nd year of Zhengde (1507), Tang Yin chose a place to build a house and set up a Taohua nunnery. Tang Yin lived here until he died at the age of 54, where his major works of art were born.
According to records, Tang Yin's former residence includes Taohua nunnery, mengmo Pavilion, xuepu hall, nymphal Butterfly Studio and other buildings. However, Tang Yin has only one daughter, who is poor behind him. After his death, his former residence gradually becomes desolate. In the early years of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Shen Mingsheng, a famous doctor, moved to Suzhou and bought the plot to build such buildings as mengmo Pavilion, Liuru Pavilion, Taohua nunnery and Rongjing Pavilion, which were called "Tang homeland" at that time. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, the Buddhist temple and Daoxin converted it into a Baohua nunnery. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, it was changed into a Wenchang Pavilion.
