Bao Guiqing's former residence was built in 1902. The main building is a brick concrete structure with three floors and half basement. 1、 The second floor is similar to the Roman mixed double column support. Both sides of the facade are built with traditional Chinese green bricks. There are three pavilions on the three-layer platform, which are Chinese classical round pavilions, Western classical helmet shaped square pavilions and western modern square pavilions. It is a model of Chinese and Western crane wall architecture.

Bao Guiqing, born in Haicheng, Liaoning Province, graduated from the Engineering Department of Tianjin Beiyang military academy. He once served as the governor of Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces and the chief of the army. After leaving the army, he lived in Tianjin.
Bao studied engineering and was particularly interested in housing construction, so many of his residential buildings were designed and built by him. For example, the famous "Bao family compound" is said to have been built according to his idea. This house is located in the Austrian concession (No. 81 Ping'an Street, today's Hebei District). He bought two buildings in the name of jidetang Bao from 1920 to 1921, covering an area of 7.941 mu. After the purchase, it was converted into a luxurious garden house. This house imitates western architecture and has Chinese national form. It is a unique building with Chinese and Western styles. In addition, Bao also bought a piece of vacant land, 5.66 mu, for the construction of a luxury villa and a rental house in the West circle of Italy (No. 47 Minzu Road, jinhebei District) and Liuma Road (No. 10-26 Boai Road, jinhebei District).
