Side Park

Side park is located in Jiuxianqiao District, Chaoyang District, Beijing. The theme of the park is leisure and entertainment. The purpose is to make visitors get natural and fresh fun, physical and mental exercise, plant knowledge, health and longevity. The name of side park comes from this. Side Park belongs to Chaoyang District Greening Bureau. It is a public welfare free park with the theme of "sports leisure and entertainment" and provides entertainment places for tourists.

Historical evolution

Side Park covers an area of 16.7 hectares, including more than 7000 square meters of water. In 1993, side park was included in the key project of urban greening and beautification. In 1998, in addition to the infrastructure and supporting projects, the greening and road construction of the whole park were basically completed. Due to the institutional adjustment, side park was transferred from the original district agriculture and forestry bureau to Chaoyang District Greening Bureau.

In January 2003, in order to improve the service function of the park, the park carried out the overall adjustment and transformation of the park in line with the purpose of "enabling visitors to get natural and fresh fun, physical and mental exercise, certain plant knowledge, health and longevity". The park reconstruction focuses on infrastructure construction and environmental landscape reconstruction, including the completion of the paving of the sacred fire, the Fifth Ring Road and the sunset red square; the reconstruction of the four lake bank; the development of the fishing water surface, the introduction of grass carp and carp, and the allocation of various fishing gear; and the construction of the "Lilliputian" children's playground with advanced amusement facilities.

On July 18, 2003, the redeveloped side park was officially opened to the public.

Geographic transportation

Side park is located in Jiuxianqiao area, Chaoyang District, Beijing (No.9 Jiangtai West Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing). On the east side of Siyuanqiao, it is adjacent to the auxiliary line of Airport Road in the East, airport expressway in the west, Xiba River in the South and Jiangtai Road (former zhaojiu Road) in the north.
