Shenyang Catholic Church

Shenyang Catholic Church was founded in the fourth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. It can be called Xiaonan Catholic Church in Shenyang. It is also called Nanguan Catholic Church, Nanguan Catholic Church and the Episcopal Church of the sacred heart of Jesus in Shenyang. The church is divided into two courtyards, the East and the West. At the north end of the east courtyard, the church is a typical Gothic building, with two square conical spires on the top, decorated with a cross, three arches in front, rows of small windows on both sides, and 24 stone pillars inside, inlaid with exquisite patterns. The West courtyard of the church has a four story building, which was built in 1926. Nowadays, the church is a place for many couples to take wedding photos. The design is novel and the layout is holy. The whole church is filled with a strong sense of romance. If you go there at about 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, you can also see many faithful believers doing mass and feel the religious atmosphere.

Shenyang Catholic Church

Shenyang Catholic Church, also known as Shenyang Nanguan church, is located at No. 40, Nanlejiao Road, Xiaonan street, Shenhe District, Shenyang City.

The church was originally built in 1878 (the fourth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty) by French missionary Fang ruowang. It was burned by the boxers in 1900, and the existing building was rebuilt on the original site in 1912 by Bishop supelis of France, the Diocese of Southern Manchuria, using the Boxer Indemnity in the Treaty of sinchou.

The church is located in the east courtyard, facing south from north, 66 meters long from north to south, 17 meters wide from east to west, and 40 meters high. The brick concrete structure has a plain surface of green brick, two square conical spires protruding from the top of the front, side by side with the East and the west, and the upper part is decorated with a "cross" frame. With a construction area of more than 1100 square meters and 120 couplets, it is one of the largest in China. The overall architectural pattern follows the architectural form of the European Renaissance, which is a typical Gothic architecture.

There is a four story building on the west side of the church, covering an area of more than 10000 square meters, with a construction area of more than 2700 square meters and nearly 100 houses. This is the Bishop's mansion built in 1926.

The overall building of the church is surrounded by a green brick courtyard wall 80 meters long from east to west and 112 meters wide from north to south. The house covers an area of 3213 square meters, with a total area of 9264 square meters. In February 1985, the municipal government announced it as a municipal cultural relics protection unit. In December 1988, Liaoning Provincial People's government announced it as a provincial cultural relics protection unit. In March 2013, the State Council announced it as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
