Former residence of Zhang Xueliang

Zhang Xueliang's former residence is a Japanese style black tile farmhouse building. Its shape is quite integrated with the surrounding mountain scenery. The local old people say that it is exactly the same as the original building in their memory.

At present, the memorial hall of Zhang Xueliang is built here. The museum displays historical materials related to Zhang Xueliang. Through the introduction of films, old photos, old maps, old documents and so on, it describes the life of the most legendary young commander in modern Chinese history.

The planning of Zhang Xueliang's former residence is not only a separate individual, but also a combination of Taiya culture, food and dance. It also includes the famous Qingquan hot spring, xiakaluo trail and surrounding scenic facilities. It also has a "foot soaking area" to let tourists experience the warm and nourishing Qingquan hot spring.

Former residence of Zhang Xueliang

Zhang Xueliang's former residence is located at No.32 road of French Concession (now 78 Chifeng Road, Heping District). It is a western style building. The front building was built in 1921, and the back building was built in 1926. Zhang came to Tianjin in the 1920s and 1930s to live here.

There are two brick and wood buildings in the former residence of Zhang family. The front building has three floors with basement and the back building has two floors. There are 42 buildings in the two buildings, with a construction area of 1270.4 square meters. The total construction area is 1401.65 square meters, covering an area of 1.495 mu.

Profile

Zhang Xueliang, Han Qing, was born in 1901 in Haicheng, Liaoning Province. Graduated from the Northeast Jiangwu academy, he has successively served as commander of brigade, division and army, commander of regiment, commander of northeast security, commander of northeast frontier defense, deputy commander in chief of land, sea and air force, director of appeasement in Beiping, chairman of Beiping branch of the Military Commission, commander in chief of "suppressing bandits" in Northwest China. In 1936, Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng of the northwest army launched the "Xi'an Incident" which shocked both China and foreign countries (December 12, 1936). They detained Chiang Kai Shek and forced him to resist Japan, laying the foundation for the second Kuomintang communist cooperation and the national anti Japanese war.

There are two brick and wood buildings in the former residence of Zhang family. The front building was built in 1921 with three floors and basement; the back building was built in 1926 with two floors. There are 42 buildings in the two buildings, with a construction area of 1270.4 square meters. The total construction area is 1401.65 square meters, covering an area of 1.495 mu.

The building is luxurious, beautiful and generous. There are roof platforms on the second and third floors of the front building; the interior is spacious and elegant, and the internal stairs, floors, doors and windows are made of Philippine wood; the hospital has complete sanitary equipment and widely planted lawn.

The building was purchased from the French Consulate in the name of Zhang Shouyi (fifth lady of Zhang zuolin). After 1949, Zhang Shouyi went to Hong Kong and was managed by his son, Zhang Xuequan. In 1956, after the private house was transformed, it was managed by the state, and in 1960, it was changed into public property.
