Baoshan Yuhuang Pavilion
Baoshan Yuhuangge is an ancient building with Han style in Ming Dynasty. It is located on the right hillside of Taibaoshan in the west of Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, close to Baoshan Yufo temple, a Buddhist holy land in Yizhong Baoshan, Longyang District.
brief introduction
The pavilion was built in the Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty. It is a three story double eaves Dougong building, supported by 36 tall columns. The top of the pavilion is full of beams and half arches. It gradually collapses upward into the shape of eight trigrams, and the roof is Taiji. The roof is paved with golden glazed tiles, with flying eaves and wings. It looks dignified and grand. There are exquisite murals, clay sculptures and reliefs in the building. In front of the building, there are two pavilions and three big green trees with luxuriant branches. Next to them are Taiqing fairyland, Xuandi temple, Wenchang palace and other buildings, which are one of the eight scenic spots in Baoshan. What is very mysterious is that there is a plaque on the second floor of the Jade Emperor Pavilion. From the front, it is a large scarlet character of "sincere and endless"; from the left, it is a big red and green character of "dragon flying and Phoenix dancing"; from the right, it is a big brown and red character of "Hai Yan He Qing". It's really a miracle. Up to now, no one can explain the mystery, which fully reflects the wisdom of the ancient working people.
history
According to Yongchang Fu Zhi, the Yuhuang pavilion was built by Feng Junlu, a magistrate in the 24th year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1545 AD), on the site of the former Pilu Pavilion. The existing main hall and the two pavilions of bells and drums on both sides of Danlong in front of the hall. The main hall stands on the base of a high platform inlaid with blue stone relief. The base is 401 square meters in plane. It is wide, square and straight. It is gray and blue in color, giving people a simple, elegant and broad feeling. The hall above is the top of Xieshan mountain with triple eaves. Earlier, there were statues of jade emperor and four giant standing figures of human beings. The main hall is 23 meters wide and 17 meters deep. There are six hundred and sixty-six large columns under the frame support, and the central column is 13.6 meters high. In the Ming Dynasty and the second, the central column was moved backward to widen the central space of the hall; the dome was a bucket shaped Eight Trigram caisson, and the top was painted with Tai Chi; the murals in the hall were elegant and colorful, which was a school of immortal meteorology; the lattice door was carved with animals and flowers, which was ethereal and graceful. The top of the hall is covered with yellow glazed tiles. The main ridge is decorated with Baoding, birds and animals, and the tail kiss. The hanging ridge is also decorated with flowers and tail kisses, and the four corners are hung with wind chimes. Giant plaques are hung under the triple eaves, especially the four wooden relief painted single character plaques hanging on the cornice on the second floor. Facing them squarely, there are four big red and yellow characters of "sincere and endless", four big red and green characters of "dragon flying and Phoenix dancing" on the right side (North), and four big red and brown characters of "gods towering" on the left side (South). One plaque has three uses, which shows the architects' ingenuity. In front of the hall, there are two pavilions of bells and drums. In the past, there were bells and drums hanging in the pavilions, which sounded at dawn and dusk. In the north of the hall, there is Huizhen building, where Xu Xiake stayed when he visited Baoshan.
