Jiangtai Fort

Jiangtaibao is located on the East Bank of Hulu River, 20km away from Xiji County, Guyuan City, Ningxia, where the great wall of Qin Dynasty in Warring States period turns eastward. In ancient times, xiwating was called a military fortress. The title of jiangtaibao already contains military elements. From September to October 1936, the third regiment of the first division of the Fourth Red Army Special detachment mobilized the masses in Jiangtai fort, established the Soviet government and peasant association, and made preparations for the meeting of the three main forces of the Red Army.

Ancient military fortress

According to the newly compiled Xiji County annals, the city was first built in the period of emperor Zhaoxiang of Qin Dynasty, which was a product of war. As a military resort, it was built in all dynasties. The remaining earthen fort is 70 meters long from east to west, 68 meters wide from north to south, and the wall is 10 meters high. The gate of the fort is built in the south, and is inlaid with three characters "jiangtaibao" inscribed by Bo Yibo.

The meeting place of the Red Army

The memorial to the meeting of the Red Army in Jiangtai fort was built in October 1996 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory of the long march in Jiangtai fort on October 22, 1936. The monument is located in the east side of Jiangtai fort. The monument is 22.5 meters high. On the front of the monument, there are 16 glittering characters inscribed by Comrade Jiang Zemin: "monument to the meeting of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army in the long march". On the back, there are inscriptions written by the Xiji County Party committee and the government of the Communist Party of China. On the top of the monument, there are three Red Army heads, symbolizing the meeting of the three main forces of the Red Army The pattern of the victory of the Chinese revolution.

Meeting history

From September to October 1936, the first division and the third regiment of the first division of the Fourth Red Army Special detachment mobilized the masses in Jiangtai fort, established the Soviet government and the peasant association, and made preparations for the meeting of the three main forces of the Red Army. On October 22, he long, Ren Bishi, Liu Bocheng, Nie Rongzhen and Deng Xiaoping led the main forces of the first corps of the first front army of the Red Army to join forces in Jiangtai fort. Chen Bojun (commander of the sixth Red Army), Wang Zhen (political commissar of the sixth Red Army), Li Da (chief of staff of the sixth Red Army), Gan Siqi (director of the Political Department of the second Red Army), Yang Dezhi (division commander of the second Red Army) and Xiao Hua (political commissar of the second Red Army) of the second red army joined the meeting, and nearly 12000 Red Army troops and local people joined the meeting.

Education base

In October 1996, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Long March meeting of the first, second and fourth front armies of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army, the Party committee and the government of the autonomous region reported to the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for approval to build a memorial to the meeting of the first and second front armies of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army. "The monument to the meeting of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army at jiangtaibao on the long march" is engraved in 16 big words on the front of the huge granite monument with three Red Army heads and symbolizing the meeting of the three main forces. On the back of the monument is an inscription written by the Xiji County Party committee and the government of the Communist Party of China. The completion of the memorial mark of the Long March meeting of the Red Army in jiangtaibao is not only a memory of the heroic sacrifice of the Red Army soldiers, but also an incentive for future generations. It will stand here for a long time, telling and spreading the red story to the world.

The memorial to the meeting of jiangtaibao in Xiji County has been listed as a patriotic education base and a key cultural relic protection unit.
