In November of the same year, the Ministry of petroleum approved the drilling of the first oil well in Daqing. On September 26, 1959, the well was fond of oil injection. Since then, China has taken off the label of backward oil industry and ended the history of oil poor countries. Since 1960, the Daqing oil battle has been launched and a large oil field with world advanced level has been built. This oil well is the historical witness of Daqing oil battle, and also the main symbol of the achievements of new China's oil industry, Daqing spirit and iron man spirit.

In April 1960, Wang Jinxi led team 1262 (later changed to team 1205) to respond to the call of the Party Central Committee for an oil battle in Northeast China, and came to Daqing from Yumen oil mine in Gansu Province. Due to the poor conditions at that time and the lack of large-scale lifting and transportation tools, the drilling rig could not be unloaded on the train. In order to buy time, Wang Jinxi organized workers to unload the rig with the most primitive way of pulling and carrying. They chanted slogans and worked together to transport the drilling rig weighing nearly 100 tons to the poplar forest where the well site is located. However, it was in April. Due to lack of water, the mud could not be stirred and the drilling could not be started. Wang Jinxi had an idea. He thought of the water bubble he passed when he was transporting the drilling rig, so he led the workers to use the washbasin and aluminum helmet to break the ice from the water bubble in the distance to get water. On April 14, the well was finally drilled in the poplar forest area and completed in the shortest time. Wang Jinxi's spirit of fighting for oil inspired his comrades in arms and moved the people living in the oil field. Daqing spirit was born and the reputation of "Iron Man" spread in the oil field.

Tieren's first well is an exploration well with a depth of 1200 meters. For more than 40 years, this well has been in the state of self flowing, with a cumulative oil production of more than 150000 tons. Because of its special significance, the well has been included in the dictionary of Chinese places of interest and listed as a national treasure like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall.

Now, on the grassland behind Tieren's well, there are also the drilling rigs used by Wang Jinxi's 1205 drilling team. The number of the drilling crew in that year is arranged according to the type of drilling rig used. 1205 drilling crew is the fifth drilling crew equipped with 1200 drilling rigs. Beiwu 1200 drilling rig is imported from the former Soviet Union, with a designed drilling depth of 1200 meters; domestic 1200 drilling rig is a imitation product. At the beginning of the battle, Daqing had two 1205 drilling teams. One is the 1205 team using Beiwu drilling rig, which is transferred from Sichuan. The other is the 1205 team using domestic drilling rig, which is transferred from Yumen. The team leader is Wang Jinxi.
