Historical evolution
On May 18, 1899, the Qing government borrowed 9.8 million pounds from the British and German syndicates respectively. In 1908, the construction of Jinpu railway was started. Architectural features
Pukou railway station is an old British building with three stories of brick and wood structure, beige exterior wall and red roof.
A three story Beige main building is connected by a single column umbrella shaped corridor extending directly to the platform and an arched rain corridor connecting the ferry terminal. The red roof is marked with "Nanjing North Station". On the square opposite the main building, there is a "Zhongshan mourning platform" specially built to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat Sen's coffin.
The characteristic of Pukou railway station is that the waiting building, platform, rain corridor, ticket room, VIP Building, senior staff dormitory and other main and supporting buildings have been systematically preserved, which can be called the most complete "Centennial station". The roof of the house is blue gray machine tile, and the facade is painted with yellowish cement mortar, which is similar to the shape of "villa on the second floor". The platform, rain corridor and other ancillary buildings of Pukou railway station adopt reinforced concrete structure.
Cultural relics
After the Japanese invasion of China and the great fire in the "Cultural Revolution", the main building of Pukou railway station has been basically preserved. Among them, two thirds of the stair floors of the wooden structure in the station building have been replaced, and one third of the existing buildings have retained their former appearance. The main building's waiting hall door was closed and the windows were sealed with dark green boards.

In the winter of 1918, Zhu Ziqing went to school in Beijing. He said goodbye to his father at Pukou railway station and wrote back.
In 1919, Sun Yat Sen published an article "industrial plan" in the Journal of construction. He thought that transportation must be put in the first place in modern industry, and Pukou railway station should be included in the construction focus.
