In the 15th year of Yongli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1661), Zheng Chenggong came to Taiwan to drive the lotus successfully. After Zheng Chenggong died the next year, the residents of Fucheng, in order to express their gratitude for Zheng's achievements and spirit in driving the lotus and opening up the territory, set up a temple to worship him at the royal temple of Yanping county. Later, because of concerns about the Qing government, they did not dare to worship him openly, so they called him "kaishanwang Temple".
There are many precious cultural relics in the ancestral hall of Yanping County, especially a large number of couplets in the Qing Dynasty, including those written by Shen Baozhen, the founder of the original temple, which are still of great historical value. There are many Tainan cultural relics in the "National Heritage Museum" beside the ancestral hall: on the first floor, prehistoric cultural relics are mainly displayed, explaining the geographical relationship between Taiwan and China, and the evolution of the lives of the ancestors; on the second floor, most of the historical relics of Tainan are displayed, including the portraits or inks of the sages related to Fucheng, such as Zheng Chenggong and Shen Baozhen. In addition, the daily necessities of the old city, such as street signs, sleeping beds, land deeds, and silver tickets, are displayed, so that people can have an in-depth understanding of the living conditions of their ancestors.
