Anping castle is the first castle in the history of Taiwan. It was built during the reign of the Netherlands. It was called "reranzhe city" or "Anping City" in ancient times. "Re LAN Zha city" was completely demolished during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. What we see now is the new Anping castle and the white lookout tower built by the Japanese, while the real relic of "re LAN Zhecheng" is only a mottled wall surrounded by old banyan. When the sun goes down, a strong golden light sprinkles on the old red brick wall, blending one of the most beautiful old "eight scenes of Taiwan" - Anping sunset.

Development history
Anping castle is the oldest castle in Taiwan. Its fate is closely related to Taiwan's history. It has not only changed owners several times, but also changed the appearance and use of the building several times. The original "Anping Castle" was actually the "city of geranzha" built by the Dutch. It was the first castle built by the Dutch colonists in Taiwan and served as a hub for ruling Taiwan and foreign trade.
After Zheng Chenggong regained Taiwan, he continued to use the two castles of Dutch colonial period, namely, the city of reranzhe and the city of promenzhe, and changed their names to "Anping town" and "chengtianfu" respectively; the former served as Zheng's mansion, while the latter served as the political center of Taiwan. After entering the Qing Dynasty, the political center moved to the mainland, and the city was changed into a military uniform Bureau.
In 1873, the British warships attacked the city, and their guns hit the city's armory, causing an explosion. The city wall was destroyed and then became ruins. Later, it became the source of bricks and stones for the residents to build houses and the Qing government to build "Yizai Jincheng". In the era of Japanese occupation, the original city walls were flattened and rebuilt into Japanese style customs dormitories and red brick platforms. So far, the Dutch style castle disappeared.
After the restoration, it was renamed "Anping Castle". After the renovation of the original Japanese style dormitory, it was opened as a monument. Although the ancient Anping Castle seen today is the same as it was after many times of renovation, which is not as magnificent as the old one, it is still a scenic spot worth visiting for its rich historical materials and cultural significance.
The existing ruins of the ancient castle include the incomplete semi-circular castle and ancient well ruins in the inner city on the right, while the ruins of the north, South and southwest edge castle in the outer city. Among them, the remains of the south wall, which is more than 3 feet high and about 30 meters long, have been planned as an ancient wall Historic Park. On the wall, there are ancient banyan trees, old beards and beards, full of ancient flavor. There are ten reliefs of historical relics in the park. The historical traces are like a fan, which is tortuously listed in the eye.
Today's Anping Castle memorial is on the red brick steps. The first bronze statue of Zheng Chenggong and the Anping Castle monument are displayed. The original model of "re LAN Zhecheng", Zheng Chenggong's ink treasures and historical relics of Ming and Qing Dynasties are displayed in the memorial? T watchtower was added in 1975. Climbing on the tower, you can see the vast expanse of blue waves in the Taiwan sea. It's like seeing a warship like a cloud with thousands of sails. Zheng's flag has opened the way with blood. It's full of emotion.
