Xi'an World Expo Garden

Xi'an World Expo Garden

Xi'an Expo Park is located in Guangyuntan, Chanba ecological zone of Xi'an City, about 10 kilometers away from the center of Xi'an city. It is the site of 2011 Xi'an World Horticultural Expo.

The total area of Xi'an World Horticultural Exposition Park is 418 hectares (6270 mu), including 188 hectares (2820 mu) of water area. The main buildings are Chang'an tower, creative Museum, nature museum and Guangyun gate; the five theme horticultural attractions are Chang'an Flower Valley, colorful Zhongnan, silk road flower rain, Overseas Grand View and Bashang rainbow; the three characteristic service areas are Bashang people's home, coconut water bank and European customs.

On October 3, 2012, Xi'an World Expo successfully passed the 4A level scenic spot certification and was rated as national AAAA level scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration.

Xi'an Expo Park is located in Chanba ecological zone in the eastern suburb of Xi'an City, at the intersection of Chanhe River and Bahe River, 1000 meters east of the intersection of East 2nd Ring Road and North 2nd Ring Road, Guangyuntan, Chanba ecological zone of Xi'an city. The total area of the park is 418 hectares (6270 mu), including 188 hectares (2820 mu) of water area.

Climate and environment

Xi'an is a warm temperate semi humid continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons of cold, warm, dry and wet. In winter, it is cold, windy, foggy, less rain and snow; in spring, it is warm, dry, windy and changeable; in summer, it is hot and rainy, summer drought is prominent, thunderstorm and gale are frequent; in autumn, it is cool, temperature drops rapidly, and autumn shower is obvious. The annual average temperature is 13.0 ℃ ~ 13.7 ℃, the average temperature in the coldest January is - 1.2 ℃ ~ 0.0 ℃, and the average temperature in the hottest July is 26.3 ℃ ~ 26.6 ℃.

Development history

Xi'an World Expo Garden is one of the main ports in ancient China. During the Tianbao period of Tang Dynasty, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty held large-scale water transportation expositions and trade fairs here, showing the development of Commerce and trade and the smooth flow of water transportation in Tang Dynasty, which created the beginning of the world exposition.

On October 19, 2006, Xi'an municipal government decided to bid for the world horticultural exposition, which will be located in Guangyuntan, Chanba Ecological District, Xi'an.

On November 10, 2008, the construction of Xi'an World Horticultural Expo, the venue of 2011 Xi'an World Horticultural Expo, started.

On October 22, 2011, after the closing of Xi'an World Horticultural Expo, the Xi'an World Horticultural Expo Park was upgraded for half a year.

On April 28, 2012, Xi'an World Expo Park was completed and opened to the public free of charge.

Main buildings

Chang'an tower

Chang'an tower is the landmark building of Xi'an World Expo Park, designed by Zhang Jinqiu, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, located in xiaozhongnan. The tower is 99 meters high. It is made of steel structure and glass components. It has seven open floors, six hidden floors and one underground floor. The shape of Chang'an pagoda has the characteristics of the traditional wooden pagoda of the Tang Dynasty: one layer of overhanging eaves and one layer of seats on top of it. The size of overhanging eaves on each floor is wide and upward, which reflects the far-reaching characteristics and style of the eaves in the Tang Dynasty. The combination of metal components between eaves and column head is the abstraction and generalization of traditional architecture eaves bucket arch system. The glass curtain wall retreats to the inner side of the outer trough column and is fixed with the column and beam through the glass rib. A series of treatments make the buildings of Tang style and Tang rhyme full of modern sense and highlight the local historical characteristics of Shaanxi.

Gems Museum

The treasure museum is located on the main axis of Xi'an World Expo Garden. The architectural layout is in the shape of "King", which is composed of three wings of irregular geometry. The irregular connection of different finishes, such as bronze metal, stone and garden style planting roof, has formed the artistic effect of orderly arrangement and rich connotation. The museum mainly displays more than 2900 high-quality collections in seven categories, including fossils of paleontology, mineral crystals, gems and jades, ancient jades of late Qing Dynasty, ancient jades of Hongshan culture, calligraphy and paintings of celebrities and other treasures.

Nature Museum

Located on the Bank of Jinxiu lake, the nature museum is designed by EVA, the chief designer of plasma company in the UK, with a total construction area of 5316 square meters. It is used to show many kinds of plants and their ecological landscapes, as well as typical plant landscapes in different climatic zones. The semi buried underground facade of the building is made of glass, wood and a small amount of concrete. The whole exhibition hall is divided into two floors. The first floor is the tropical rain forest plant exhibition area and the characteristic plant exhibition area, and the second floor is the desert plant exhibition area and the rare plant exhibition area.

Children's pet house

Located in Qinling Park of Xi'an World Expo Park, children's Mengchong Pavilion is composed of four Pavilions: Animal Happy Valley, monkey mountain, bear paradise and bird talk forest. Visitors can interact closely with more than 300 docile animals of 19 species in Mengchong hall.

Chang'an Garden

The theme of Chang'an garden is "new concept interpretation" of green, ecological and Chinese style, including space plants and space science education exhibition area, bamboo culture exhibition area, herb culture exhibition area, cultural waterfront exhibition area, peony and peony exhibition area. The space botanical garden is built close to the mountain. In the garden, more than 30 kinds of space flowers and 10 kinds of space vegetables are planted, including space crop seeds, space breeding poinsettia, chrysanthemum, drunken butterfly, peacock grass, marigold, goldfish grass, Salvia splendens, sunflower, giant pumpkin, tomato, aviation pepper, aviation eggplant, Ornamental Pepper, etc. Bamboo culture exhibition area uses traditional Chinese bamboo to weave the gate, sculpture, bamboo Gallery, bamboo plank road, bamboo house, teahouse and other Chinese elements.

The herb culture exhibition area shapes the herb garden with layers of terraces.

The cultural waterfront exhibition area is designed with reed, lotus pond, trestle, spring, stream, painted house, green island and other elements.

Peony Peony display area is full of peony and peony garden.

Qinling Garden

Qinling park is located on xiaozhongnan mountain, with the theme of "showing Qinling Mountains and waters, rare animals and characteristic plants". There are "four gardens and eight sceneries" in the park, with animal Happy Valley, monkey mountain, bear paradise and bird talk forest as the core, imitating the natural landscape, cultural landscape and animal and plant resources of Qinling Mountains, creating a garden space integrating tourism, sightseeing and leisure functions for tourists.

Combined with the surrounding topography, the park is built by piling mountains and piling stones and planting water. All the scenic spots are constructed by intercepting the landscape fragments of Qinling Mountains. The Taoist temple in the park, together with the colorful Zhongnan and Chang'an tower, which are the five major theme horticultural scenic spots, constructs the unique religious and cultural landscape and atmosphere of Qinling Mountains. In order to show the rich plant landscape features of Qinling Mountains, combined with the landscape topography of the park, the park will plant camphor tree, Eucommia ulmoides, Magnolia officinalis, Taxus chinensis, Liriodendron chinense, Ziyang dayebao, Rhododendron Yinghong, xiangtuan thorn, Pinus bungeana, Begonia, Magnolia, weeping willow, Sophora japonica, Gleditsia sinensis, Lianxiang tree, Quercus variabilis, Corylus heterophylla, Bauhinia Taibai, Picea, Phyllostachys pubescens, kiwi, Osmanthus fragrans, elm tree, etc There are more than 30 national endangered plants, including Ginkgo biloba, Begonia, Lagerstroemia indica, palm, Prunus, walnut, tung oil tree, persimmon, chestnut, Albizia julibrissin, Aesculus chinensis, Betula platyphylla, Pinus tabulaeformis, Spiraea pubescens, Sedum sarmentosum, Paeonia suffruticosa, Syringa pinnatifida, and more than 40 protected plants in Shaanxi Province.

Guanzhong Garden

Guanzhong garden is a collection of all kinds of stone tools with Shaanxi folk characteristics, such as millstones, horse drinking troughs, horse tied stakes, stone sheep, stone figurines, stone drums, stone mills, etc. The "frame" of bonsai in the garden is stacked by millstones, the road is paved by millstones of large and small, and the stakes in the garden truly record the culture, life, religion, ethnic relations and aesthetic taste of farmers in Guanzhong.

Yew theme park

The total area of Taxus theme park is 1075 square meters. The display in the park is divided into indoor and outdoor parts. The outdoor part will be full of Taxus in various forms, including Taxus shrub ribbon and multi style Taxus potted plants. There is a glass greenhouse in the park. The process of seedling raising, cultivation and growth of Taxus chinensis was introduced in detail. On the other hand, the medicinal value of Taxus and the extraction process of paclitaxel were introduced. This paper introduces Taxus chinensis, an endangered and precious plant, from two aspects.

Courtyard of the world

The "world garden" exhibition area of Xi'an World Expo Park is located on a 18000 square meter island surrounded by water. It mainly displays ancient Greek gardens, Italian Terrace Gardens, French classical gardens, British natural landscape gardens and Spanish Islamic gardens.

Ancient Greek Garden

The ancient Greek garden is located in the north of the world courtyard, covering an area of about 2000 square meters. The whole garden is divided into three parts, from west to East are Soros square, Saint forest and Lion Gate. The main body of the Greek garden is the site square of Delphi (Soros Square).
