Fengshan old city

Fengshan old city is located in Zuoying District of Kaohsiung City, covering the east gate, South Gate, north gate, city wall, city moat, tuikong temple, gongchenjing, etc. The total cost of the old city was 92100 Liang, which was allocated from the 140000 Liang donated by the gentry. The project was started on July 15, the fifth year of Daoguang (1825 AD), and completed on August 15, the next year. Du Qi, the county magistrate, Huang Huali, Wu Shangxin, Huang mingbiao and Liu Yizhong were appointed directors. Unexpectedly, when the county was completed, the magistrate Du Shaoqi died suddenly. People thought it was an ominous omen, so they never moved in and let it go. In the end, we had to rebuild the new town. At present, the old city of Fengshan County, except for the east gate and the north gate, still has intact city gates and walls, other parts are mostly broken walls. As for the south gate, on the ring of Zuoying Avenue, there is a pair of gray door god statues on the wall of the north gate. The form is simple and vivid, but it has been rebuilt recently, and the ancient meaning is lost.

Fengshan old city
