Xingdou Mountain

Xingdoushan Nature Reserve is located 57 kilometers southeast of Lichuan City, across Lichuan, Enshi and Xianning counties (cities), with a total area of 68339 hectares. It is divided into Xingdoushan and Xiaohe. The main peak is 171.2 meters above sea level. Xingdou Mountain in Enshi, Hubei Province, known as "Central China natural botanical garden", has been officially approved as a national nature reserve by the State Environmental Protection Administration. During the Quaternary glacial period, Xingdoushan area was less affected by the cold current, which provided favorable conditions for the survival, reproduction and differentiation of various plants. In addition, there was less human destruction, and the natural ecology was in the original state, so it was known as "Central China natural botanical garden". According to the survey and statistics, there are 2033 species of vascular plants belonging to 557 genera and 187 families in Xingdoushan Nature Reserve, including 8 species of national first-class protected plants and more than 40 species of ancient rare and precious trees, and 1746 species of wild animals including 3 species of national first-class key protected animals. In 1980, Xingdou Mountain was listed as a provincial nature reserve in Hubei Province. The mountain is inclined from northwest to Southeast, starting from moshigou in Enshi in the East, reaching sanxianyan in Xianfeng in the south, Tianba in Lichuan in the West and huabanxi in Lichuan in the north. The shape of the mountain is like a bow, and the ridge is like a knife beam. In Lichuan, there are ten large gullies in the shape of fan bones, which gather in Bajiao River. At the foot of the mountain, there are three small rivers winding and flowing, and the mountain springs are clear and sweet. At the top of the mountain, there was a Sanyi temple built at the beginning of tomorrow. The ancient poem says: "the dangerous building is a hundred feet high, and you can pick the stars with your hands. I dare not speak aloud for fear of frightening the people in the sky! "

Xingdou Mountain

With a total area of 2880 hectares, the main peak is 1751.2 meters above sea level, and the lowest is 840 meters above sea level. It is said that the main peak of the mountain is very close to the heavenly palace. Some immortals often pick the stars as lamps to travel between Xingdou Mountain and the heavenly palace, so it is called Xingdou Mountain.

Xingdou Mountain is located in the second and third step zone of the transition from southwest high mountain to southeast low mountain and hill in China. During the Quaternary glacial period, it was little affected by glaciers, and many ancient rare plants were preserved. Because of the superior climatic conditions and complex and diverse natural landforms, the plants in this mountain can gather and differentiate. It not only has the characteristics of ancient, old and rare, but also has the transitional characteristics of mutual infiltration in the East, West, North and south. The flora of the mountain is complex, with ancient origin and rich plant species. There are more than 40 ancient rare and precious tree species, such as Taiwania flousiana, Davidia involucrata, Ginkgo biloba, calyx, Lichuan silver magpie, etc. There are more than 100 kinds of precious flowers and plants, such as orchid, Campanula, Rhododendron and Magnolia. It is also known as "medicine garden". There are dozens of precious Chinese herbal medicines, such as Gastrodia elata, notoginseng, suoziqi, a pearl on the top of the head, seven leaves and one branch of flower, etc. There are many kinds of animals in Xingdou Mountain, including 6 orders, 13 families and 41 species of birds, more than 20 species of mammals and more than 10 species of snakes.

Xingdoushan Nature Reserve was established in 1981 and upgraded to National Nature Reserve on June 6, 2003. At the same time, the "Xingdou Mountain plant resources protection and management office" was set up to study the law of ecosystem development, protect and breed rare tree species. The proportion of key protected plants in the whole country and the whole province is as follows: the first class plants account for 37.5% of the whole country and 100% of the whole province; the second class plants account for 7% of the whole country and 52.6% of the whole province; the third class plants account for 4.4% of the whole country and 47.4% of the whole province.

Xingdou Mountain is a green star. It has beautiful scenery, warm spring and cool autumn, no hot summer, no cold winter, and four distinct seasons. The unique scenic spots include Yingzui rock, luzitang, Shenxian cave, Huluba and Dishuiyan waterfall.

Take a bus from Enshi passenger transport center to Lichuan and transfer to Maoba. If you drive by yourself, you can go from Enshi Baiguo jinlongba sanxianchang (about 50 kilometers, some gravel roads), or from Enshi Huangjindong Huluba (more than 80 kilometers, all cement roads). From the back two roads up the mountain, the slope is relatively flat.
