In 1957, he deeply felt that "heaven sent civil and military forces to advance, and there was no success in both of them." he resigned angrily and entered the Taoism with indignation, and lived in the mountains and forests in seclusion. In the fourth year of Jin Zhenglong's reign (1159), he abandoned his family and traveled abroad. He claimed that he met a stranger in Ganhe town and taught him how to practice the truth inside and become a monk. In the first year of Jin Dading (1161), he dug a cave tomb in Nansha village and named it "Tomb of the living dead", also known as "Xingpeng". He regarded himself as one of them and devoted himself to the cultivation for two years. Three years later, he moved to Liujiang village. In the seventh year, he begged for food alone, left Tongguan in the East, went to Shandong to preach, and established Quanzhen Taoism.

It laid a foundation for the prosperity and development of Quanzhen Taoism in organization and theory. The nunnery was named lingxu Temple by Emperor Zhangzong of Jin Dynasty. Emperor Taizong of Yuan Dynasty was granted the title of Chongyang Longevity Palace (Chongyang Palace). Quanzhen Taoism was honored as ancestral nunnery or ancestral court.

Introduction to scenic spots
The tomb of the living dead is located in Chengdao palace, 4 or 5 miles away from Chongyang palace. Now there are tombs, in front of which are carved with the words "Tomb of the living dead". According to local experts, a tomb passage was opened before, and it was found that there was a basement inside. They used a long bamboo pole to test it, but they didn't touch it to the end. They didn't know the exact depth. For the sake of protection, they didn't continue to dig. They covered it with a green stone slab that was originally covered on the top of the passage and sealed it up as it was.
Readers who have read Jin Yong's novels will still remember the characters and places in the novels, such as Quanzhen religion, Wang Chongyang, Quanzhen seven sons, Chongyang palace, Tomb of the living dead. Most readers may think that this is Mr. Jin Yong's magical imagination. However, at the "seminar on Chongyang culture and tourism development" recently held in Huxian County, Shaanxi Province, many experts and scholars have made on-the-spot investigation and rigorous argumentation Tell the world what the real tombs of Wang Chongyang, Qiu Chuji, Quanzhen sect and the living dead look like in history.
Located in Zuan Town, Huxian County, Chongyang palace is the place where Wang Chongyang, the founder of Quanzhen sect of Taoism, practiced Taoism and lost his life in his early years. According to experts, in the Yuan Dynasty, Chongyang Palace once flourished, with more than 5000 halls and nearly 10000 Taoists. The scale of the palace was the largest of the Taoist temples at that time. So it should be right for Mr. Jin Yong to say that Chongyang palace is at the foot of Zhongnan Mountain in his novel. At present, the total area of Chongyang palace is only 53 mu. Although its scale is far less than that of that year, it can be used as a national key cultural relic protection unit, in which a large number of Taoist steles and important historical materials for studying the history of Quanzhen Taoism are preserved.
