Luodai Great Wall, formerly known as Jinlong Great Wall, was named after its location in Jinlong Town, Longquanyi District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. In 2004, Jinlong town was assigned to Luodai Town, Longquanyi District, Chengdu City, so it was also called Luodai Great Wall. It is located in Jinlong Lake scenic area. It was built in 2001 and completed in 2002. It is 1680 meters long, 4 meters high and 3 meters wide. It has five beacon towers and costs about 2 million yuan.

About 70 or 80 workers were working on it in sections every day. For a whole year, the bricks and stones were pushed up the mountain by chicken buses and manpower. The town government also found some people who were engaged in ancient architecture. Because they had no experience, their front feet fell down as soon as they were repaired. Later, in order to ensure safety, a few sections were not entirely built with bricks, but with reinforced columns. The original big green brick was fired in two brick kilns, but later it was too expensive and had to be changed into Loess brick.

However, the hard work of construction did not get the same reward. From the day it was born, it was referred to as "illegal building" by the masses, and was exposed by the media many times. In addition, the Great Wall, which cost a lot of money to build, was ignored, which caused public criticism. It was confirmed from many departments in Longquanyi District that at that time, Jinlong Great Wall did not have relevant project approval records. After visiting the Great Wall, Professor Yang Zhenzhi of the school of tourism of Sichuan University once said, "this is a project without scientific planning.". Some media even compared it with the Tiananmen Square, which was built at a huge cost in Huangjin Town, Zhongxian County, Chongqing, and demanded that officials be held accountable.

It took the town government two years to plan this modern great wall. It is reported that after the completion of the Jinlong reservoir in those years, the town government wanted to make some contribution to the Hakka dragon culture on the basis of the reservoir. Later, someone proposed the closed management, that is, to build a wall around Jinlong lake. But later, they thought that if it can not only play a closed role, but also provide people with mountain climbing fitness, wouldn't it kill two birds with one stone? Finally, the wall was built into a semi closed "Great Wall". The great wall winding along the ridge of Longquan Mountain fully embodies the dragon culture.

At the end of 2004, Jinlong town was merged into Luodai Town, so the dispute about the Great Wall gradually faded down, and Jinlong Great Wall also escaped the fate of being demolished. In 2005, Luodai successfully held the 20th World Hakka family meeting, and the vitality of the ancient town was later "activated". After tasting the advantages of tourism, the local government turned its attention to the "illegal construction" - Jinlong Great Wall.
