Wu Xuhai

Wuxuhai is an important part of the national Gongga Mountain scenic spot, located in the north of Jiulong County. It is composed of mountains, primeval forests, streams in forests, five flower meadows, alpine meadows and lakes, exotic trees, various rare animals and plants, and unique Tibetan customs. Wuxuhai is known as the "mirror of fairy dressing" by local people. The lake is surrounded by primeval forest and wide meadow. The water is green and transparent, and the environment is quiet. From summer to autumn, all the flowers around are in full bloom. The ancient trees are intertwined with vines, and the Rhododendron trees face the lake, making Wuxuhai look primitive and simple. Wuxuhai is an important part of the national Gongga Mountain scenic spot. Wuxuhai scenic spot is located in the north of Jiulong County, 25 kilometers away from the county seat. The scenic area covers an area of 400 km2. There are overlapping mountains and ravines in the area. The snow capped mountain in the southwest runs north-south. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. The average annual temperature is 4.9 ℃. The average altitude of the scenic spot is 3500m, the average minimum altitude is 1440m, and the maximum altitude is 6010m. There are 40 developed scenic spots. Wuxuhai scenic area is mainly composed of mountain peaks, primeval forests, streams in forests, five flower meadows, alpine meadows and lakes, exotic trees, various rare animals and plants, and unique Tibetan customs.

Geographical and landscape features

As early as 1929, Wu Xuhai's Yili scenery was discovered by Joseph F. rock (1884-1962), an American explorer and photographer, and published in National Geographic magazine in February 1930. It made Westerners appreciate the unique landscape and folk customs of Western Sichuan Plateau for the first time and aroused Westerners' endless yearning.

There are 40 developed scenic spots in Wuxuhai scenic area, which are mainly composed of wuxugou, Wuxuhai, twelve fairy peaks and riluku. It is a gathering place of peaks, canyons, stone forests, Haizi, primeval forests, grasslands, meadows, wild animals and plants, historic sites, beautiful legends, and pure air. The main scenic spots in the scenic area are snow mountain peak, Buddha main peak, Laoren peak, twelve sister peaks, turtle and Buddha main, Zhenhai stone, niunostril, Hunter cave, Wuxu modern glacier, Tianshengqiao, Qicai lake, Wuxu sea, Wuxu Xianhai, Wuxu Tianchi, Wuxu hot spring, Wuxu stone forest, etc.

Wuxuhai lake is 3760m above sea level, 1.2km2 above sea level and 33m at its deepest. The lake water is supplied by ice and snow melt water and underground water, which flows into wuxugou in the southeast and converges to Jiulong River. In the South and north of Wuxuhai, there are two comb shaped peaks, which are majestic and spectacular. In the west is langguze snow mountain, in the southeast is langjiadaka ridge, and in the south is wuxupuzi, which is twelve sister peaks with different shapes. The beautiful Wuxuhai is quiet and magical, completely maintaining the original ecology.

In this area, there are not only primitive forests with towering ancient trees, but also primary alpine meadows and secondary meadows. Among them, there are 8 forest vegetation types: fir forest, larch forest, Rhododendron shrub forest, and at least 15 main tree species: Abies longibracteata, Abies chuandianensis, Picea chuanxiensis, Betula platyphylla, Betula platyphylla, Rhododendron, etc. The tall spruce, fir and pine trees in the primitive forest are covered with green smoke like pine baskets, dancing with the wind and colorful. Among them, there are 6 types of grassland vegetation: alpine meadow, alpine shrub meadow and so on. The composition of forage is complex and diverse. It is a natural gene pool of pasture plants. There are more than 140 species belonging to 46 families and genera. There are more than 50 species of wild mammals in the region, belonging to more than 20 species of national first and second level protected animals, including leopard, white lipped deer, antelope, red panda, white armed deer, short tailed monkey, etc. In addition, according to incomplete statistics, there are nearly 40 kinds of birds, many kinds of amphibians and reptiles. There are many valuable medicinal materials and fungi in the region. In addition, it is inhabited by the colorful ethnic customs of the simple Tibetan, Yi and Han nationalities.

Twelve fairy peak, beautiful mountains, shaped like a fairy Tingting Yuli side, and Wuxuhai remote reflect each other, whenever the morning dew, mist light pan, lake a transpiration, people call "fairy early clean". As the sun sets, the twelve fairy peaks are reflected in the lake. If you enter the fairyland, people call it "xianwuxu". In Tibetan, it means a good place to ask the sun. It is 25 kilometers away from Jiulong County.

According to legend, there is a beautiful fairy living in Wuxuhai. She and dongrejibu snow mountain opposite Haizi are a pair of lovers. They have a very harmonious relationship with the people who live by the sea. Every year, the people burn incense, smoke and sacrifice to the sea, and sacrifice to dongrejibu. They also respond to their demands and protect the local people.

One year, dongrejibu was invited to Gongga Mountain as a guest. Two dragons seized the opportunity to occupy Wuxuhai. The fairy couldn't fight the dragon, so she had to abandon the sea to return to the heavenly palace.

After Dong re Jibu came back, he saw that the clear and transparent sea water had become turbid. Knowing that his sweetheart had been driven away by the dragon, he was so angry that he took out a pair of white conches from his pocket and threw them into the sea. This pair of white snails and the two dragons launched a fierce fight. White snails are small and exquisite, and the more they fight, the more brave they are. Finally, they drive the two dragons to the dead corner of the sea floor, so that they can neither come out nor enter. To this day, every night, the two dragons will make a wail and wail. When the wind is warm and the sun is beautiful, when you look on the shore, you can also see the two white conchs that seem to be swimming.

After the fairy returned to the palace, Dongre Jibu was extremely sad and finally turned into a snow mountain. It is said that the snow capped peak, which never disappears all the year round, is the result of his sorrow. The two hot springs at the foot of the mountain are the tears of Dongre Gibb's yearning for fairies day and night.

The fairy went back to the palace. There are many natural wonders around the lake, such as Tianshengqiao, niubidong, waterfalls, huge glaciers and boulders.

A. Free ticket policy: children under 1.2 meters in height are free of charge; elderly people over 65 years old are free of charge with senior citizen certificate.

B. Preferential policies: children between 1.2-1.4 meters tall can buy preferential tickets for scenic spots; students can buy half price tickets with their student ID cards.

2. Chengdu Ya'an Shimian Mianning Jiulong County enter Wuxu road go straight to the terminal (Wuxuhai)

Note: all roads from Jiulong County to Wuxuhai scenic area are asphalt roads. At present, all roads from Xinduqiao to Jiulong County are asphalt roads. The road from Mianning to Jiulong is under construction. The road from luobusi to Jiulong has been basically completed, and the road from luobusi to Mianning is still poor. (June 2015).
