It is divided into two administrative villages, Yakou in the East and Nanxun in the West. Yakou village was built in the late Northern Song Dynasty, belonging to the xiangeli of Jinjiang county. The Yuan Dynasty belongs to the 17th and 8th capitals. The Ming and Qing Dynasties followed the old system. Xiapo town was built in Yakou during the Republic of China. After the founding of new China, xiapo town was changed to Yakou Town, and Yakou is still the location of the town. In 1958, the people's commune was set up in zazhen, and Yakou is a Longhu people's commune, which is divided into two administrative villages.

Historical evolution

Yakou, known as xiangeli in Song Dynasty, belongs to the 17th and 8th divisions of Jinjiang county. It was originally called Nanxun. Its ancestors came from guangcegushi, Henan Province. Since the Song Dynasty, people and culture have gathered. The birthplace of general Shi Lang, a patriotic general in the Qing Dynasty. Shi Lang led the navy to unify Taiwan, rebuilt their homes on the ruins, built eight government offices and more than 20 business houses for later generations, and carried out trade at the entrance of government offices, known as "yamou", gradually weakening Nanxun.

Yakou has Yanshan "Qinghua Temple site" in the north and Chilong dimai (a pair of Longyanjing) in the East. The origin of Yakou

As for the current name of Yakou, it should be traced back to the early Qing Dynasty. At that time, the scale of the village was large, the population was deep, and the market began to take shape. In the early Qing Dynasty, when the residents moved to Qingyang, the market was abandoned. In the 22nd year of Kangxi (1683), after general Shi Lang restored Taiwan, the coastal areas were restored and the residents moved back. General Shi Lang and his followers were awarded by the imperial court for their meritorious service. They built eight adjoining huge official residences, such as Xiya, and laid spacious stone court, which is commonly known as Fuya. At that time, most of the residents of the surrounding five townships and ten Li went to the yamen gate for market trade. From then on, Yakou, as the name of the market, was soon called open. At the same time, the village was famous for the market, so that the name of Nanxun was eventually replaced by Yakou.

Yakou has always attached great importance to culture and education. We can still see nearly ten private schools built in the Qing Dynasty. As early as in the late Qing Dynasty, Yakou established Nanxun primary school (the predecessor of Yakou Central Primary School). Nanqiao middle school is a secondary standard school in Fujian Province, and Yakou Central Primary School is a model school in rural areas of Fujian Province.
