Xi'an Academy of fine arts, founded in 1949, is the only College of Fine Arts in Northwest China. Its predecessor was the second division of northwest people's art college. In July 1949, it moved from Linfen, Shanxi Province to Xingguo temple, Chang'an County, the southern suburb of Xi'an, and established the Art College of Northwest military and Political University. Marshal he long was the first president. It was named Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts in 1960. In 1994, the College moved to Hanguang Road Campus in Xi'an.
