Shanghai Mental Health Center was founded in 1935, formerly known as Shanghai PuCi sanatorium. It is located in the southwest suburb of Shanghai (now Minhang District). It was funded by philanthropist Lu Bohong and managed by the church. It was one of the largest and well-equipped psychiatric hospitals in the Far East at that time. The hospital covers an area of about 100 mu, with a construction area of about 30000 square meters.
