Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University is a comprehensive teaching hospital under the Ministry of health. Zhongshan Hospital was founded in 1936. It was the first large-scale general hospital managed by the Chinese at that time. It was subordinate to the national Shanghai Medical College. It was named as Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hospital in memory of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, the pioneer of China's democratic revolution, and later renamed as Zhongshan Hospital. After liberation, it used to be called Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai First Medical College and Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Medical University.
