Wuhan Railway Vocational and technical college is the only full-time ordinary university with railway professional characteristics in Hubei Province sponsored by the people's Government of Hubei Province. The college has been rated as a civilized unit in Hubei Province for 14 consecutive years. It is an advanced school of moral education in China, an advanced unit of mass sports in China, an advanced unit of education of the Ministry of railways, and an advanced unit of snow resistance and disaster relief in Hubei Province in 2008. It is an excellent school of talent training level evaluation in higher vocational colleges, and a project unit of construction of Demonstrative Higher Vocational Colleges in Hubei Province.

College is located in the National High-tech Development Zone - Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone beautiful Jiangxia lake, covering an area of 776 mu. Approved by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of education, the college has established the first national high-speed railway training base in China. There are 104 advanced training rooms, 2 practice factories and national vocational skill appraisal institute.

The college consists of the school of rail transit, the Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, the Department of electronic information engineering, the Department of economics and management engineering, the school of nursing, the Department of public courses, the school of international cultural exchange and the school of continuing education. There are 35 specialties. The college has built an excellent teaching team with "double teacher structure" and "double teacher quality", which is a combination of full-time teachers, enterprise technical experts and skilled craftsmen. The college actively carries out international exchanges, cooperates with delter International Business School of Canada and Hastings College of Arts and Sciences of UK, and cooperates with Berlin University of technology, Essen Vocational College of architecture and Berlin Institute of rail technology to train teachers and students, which promotes the construction of new majors and the cultivation of high skilled applied talents .
