Pingdingshan university is a comprehensive full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of education and sponsored by the people's Government of Henan Province. The predecessor of the school is Pingdingshan normal school, which was founded in October 1959. In May 2004, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of education. Based on the local service industry, the university has gradually formed a discipline layout with engineering and other applied disciplines as the main subject and coordinated development of engineering, management, science, arts, law, art and other disciplines. In 2012, the university successfully passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of education. At present, the school has two campuses, Hubin and Chongwen, covering an area of 1.546 million square meters (2319 mu), a building area of 568300 square meters, a total value of 139 million yuan of teaching equipment, a library collection of 1.57 million paper books, more than 1700 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals, and 911900 kinds of e-books.
