Anhui forestry vocational and technical college is a public full-time ordinary university. Its predecessor is Hefei forestry school in Anhui Province. It was founded in 1952. It is one of the first batch of universities and technical secondary schools established in China after the founding of new China. It was once one of the six technical secondary schools directly under the former Ministry of forestry. It has a history of nearly 60 years. In June 2004, with the approval of Anhui Provincial People's government, it was upgraded to Anhui forestry vocational and technical college. The college is located in Dashushan scenic area of Hefei City, adjacent to the national Hefei high tech Industrial Development Zone, with convenient transportation, beautiful environment and rich humanities. It is a provincial garden unit. It is the only higher vocational and technical college in our province to cultivate forestry as the main body and coordinate the development of multi disciplines.

College now covers an area of about 150 mu, school building area of more than 40000 square meters. There are more than 80000 books and more than 300 kinds of periodicals. The college has modern teaching equipment such as data reading room, periodical reading room, electronic reading room, multimedia classroom and computer room, and 22 professional laboratories such as Herbarium, garden planning room, drawing room, drawing room and computer-aided design room. There is an off campus practice base of forestry specialty in Washan forest farm of Quanjiao County, and a comprehensive practice nursery in the school. In Anhui forestry high-tech demonstration center, Shucheng County Wanfoshan Forest Park, Yi County Hongcun and other places, there are teaching practice sites. With the approval of the State Forestry Administration and the Ministry of labor and social security, our institute has set up the only unique skill appraisal station of forestry industry in Anhui Province. Provincial Department of education confirmed our college as a computer grade, practical English application ability test center. Nanjing Forestry University and our college jointly build undergraduate and junior college level continuing education.

The college has 120 teaching staff and 88 full-time teachers. There are 1 doctor, 9 masters, 13 masters, 24 associate professors, 2 senior lecturers, 7 senior engineers, 1 senior political engineer, 32 lecturers, 2 librarians, 8 engineers, and 22 "double qualification" teachers. In order to improve the teaching and scientific research level of the college, a group of technical experts have been invited to serve as visiting professors from universities, forestry research institutes and related enterprises. The college has established a relatively stable team of professional teachers with high education background, high professional title, and "double qualification" in-service and external employment.

With the efforts of the college, the construction of a new 7600 square meter student dormitory building has broken the ground.
