Wuxi Business Vocational and technical college is a provincial public full-time college, which mainly aims at training high-quality technical and skilled talents for modern service industry. The predecessor of the school is Wuxi business school in Jiangsu Province, which was founded in 1965. In October 2000, with the approval of the people's Government of Jiangsu Province, it was upgraded and renamed Wuxi Business Vocational and technical college. In 2008, it was identified as the construction unit of Jiangsu Province model higher vocational colleges. In 2013, the University was listed as the pilot project unit of modern vocational education system construction in Jiangsu Province, and cooperated with Nanjing University of Finance and economics to implement "3 + 2" segmented training of applied undergraduate talents.

The school has three campuses in Kowloon, yaowan and Xihui, covering an area of more than 1600 mu, with a construction area of nearly 300000 square meters, a total fixed asset value of more than 1 billion yuan, and a collection of more than 800000 paper books.

At present, the school has 15 teaching schools, including school of business administration, School of international business, School of accounting and finance, School of tourism management, School of art and design, School of digital media, School of automotive technology, School of Internet of things technology, School of mechanical and electrical technology, School of international education, School of entrepreneurship education, School of continuing education, and Department of basic teaching, Department of physical education, and Department of Ideological and political theory (Department). The University attaches great importance to the entrepreneurship education of college students, independently sets up the College of entrepreneurship education, builds the college students' entrepreneurship Park with perfect functional facilities, and constantly improves the Trinity entrepreneurship education mode of "entrepreneurship teaching + entrepreneurship simulation + entrepreneurship practice", which provides a platform for the cultivation of College Students' Entrepreneurship quality and entrepreneurship practice. College Students' entrepreneurship Park is one of the first batch of College Students' Entrepreneurship demonstration bases in Jiangsu Province.
