The Central Conservatory of music was founded in 1950. Its predecessor was several distinctive higher Conservatory and department from 1920s to 1940s. They are the Music Department of Yanjing University built in 1927, the Music Department of the school of literature and art of North China University built in 1939, the Nanjing National Conservatory of music built in 1940, the Music Department of the national Beiping art college built in 1946, the Chinese Conservatory of music in Hong Kong and Shanghai, and the Music Department of the North East Lu Xun College of literature and art built in 1948. The main body is Nanjing National Conservatory of music. In 1958, the College moved from Tianjin to Beijing, located in the former Qingchun palace of Fuxingmen, Xicheng District, Beijing (the birthplace of Emperor Guangxu). Originally under the Ministry of culture, in 2000 under the Ministry of education. In 1960, it was designated as a national key university, and in 1999, it was included in the national "211 Project" construction school. It is the only national key university and "211 Project" construction school among the national art colleges. The college also has a music science and Technology Department integrating teaching and scientific research, including violin production research center, modern electronic music center, music therapy center and voice research center. In 2000, the Musicology Research Institute of the Central Conservatory of music, the only key research base of Humanities and Social Sciences in the national art colleges, was established. The college also has the Ministry of social music education and the social music examination committee at home and abroad, as well as the Central Conservatory of music press and global Audio-visual Press. It has formed a school running mode that is not only the national music education center, but also the national music research, creation, performance center and social music promotion center; it has become a music school with high reputation at home and abroad, which can represent the level of China's professional music education and complete professional settings. The Central Conservatory of music is one of the first batch of institutions of higher learning to award doctoral programs in China. It was approved by the degree Office of the State Council, the Ministry of personnel and the Ministry of education in 2003 as the first mobile post doctoral station in the national arts. Musicology of the Central Conservatory of music (including composition and composition technology theory, musicology and music performing art) is a national key discipline. For many years, the college has been following the basic principle of "broad academic vision and extensive foreign exchange", and attaches great importance to the work of foreign music and cultural exchange. Every year, many famous foreign musicians and scholars are invited to give lectures or teach in the college, and teachers and students are also selected to study, lecture and perform abroad in a planned way. In order to maintain long-term exchanges, the college also employs internationally famous musicians such as composer panderizki, conductor Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta, pianist Ashkenazi, violinist Perlman, cellist rostoropovich as honorary professors. The university has also established inter school exchanges and cooperation with world-famous Conservatory of music, such as Moscow Conservatory of music, Paris Conservatory of music and dance, London Royal Conservatory of music, etc. The Central Conservatory of music is an institution of higher professional music talents. In 1985, the college carried out the teaching system reform, and took the lead in implementing the credit system teaching system in the national art colleges. In 1993, the internal management system was reformed and the appointment system of teaching staff was initially implemented. In 1996, the first mock exam was carried out to expand the educational system and transform the school from a single mode to a diversified one. In 1999, the reform of the organization and distribution system was carried out to further simplify the working procedures of the organs and improve the treatment of the teaching and administrative staff. In 2002, a new round of teaching reform was carried out to further adjust the curriculum structure and improve the credit system. At present, the college is striving to implement the goals of the Tenth Five Year Plan and the second phase of the 211 project; the new teaching complex building with a total area of 30000 square meters is under intense construction, and the campus planning will be fully completed in 2006, creating conditions for the college to further move towards internationalization.
