According to the latest news from the provincial headquarters for the security and prevention of Asian elephants moving northward in Yunnan Province, from 18:00 on June 21 to 18:00 on June 22, the elephants moved 11.2 kilometers southward, returned from Yimen County to Eshan County, and foraged on agricultural land in Dalongtan township of Eshan. The outlying elephant is located in the north east direction of the elephant group, 30 km away from the elephant group. It continues to move in a small area in Shuanghe Township, Jinning district. All 15 elephants are in the monitoring range, and the human elephant is safe.
It is understood that the elephants entered the area under the jurisdiction of Eshan County, Yuxi City at 21:48 on June 17. In the next few days, the elephants moved on a small scale in Eshan county. At 18:00 on June 21, the elephants moved northward and re entered the woodland near Shijie Township in Yimen.
At present, the location of the image group is high altitude, the public network signal is poor, and the satellite communication vehicle is not easy to reach, which brings difficulties to the continuous monitoring operation of UAV. It is difficult to monitor and arrange the defense, and the security risk continues to increase. The headquarters strengthened the strength of the expert group, added five experts to assist the on-site headquarters in studying and judging the route of Asian elephant moving north, further strengthened the ground monitoring force, and made preparations in advance for possible rainfall in recent days.
At 20:46 on June 21, the elephant group entered Eshan from Yimen. The on-site headquarters of Eshan used 12 UAVs and transferred monitoring points four times to ensure uninterrupted monitoring; In view of the situation that the elephants migrate overnight and eat less, the grass-roots forces were fully mobilized to set up an elephant protection team, and flexible measures such as feeding the elephants and setting up drinking water points were taken to scientifically guide the elephants to migrate southward; At the same time, card points are added to reduce the impact of object group migration.
The on-site headquarters of Jinning District, Anning City, Yimen County and Eshan county were operating synchronously. A total of 210 emergency disposal personnel and police forces were put into operation, 175 muck trucks, 22 excavators and other engineering vehicles, 92 emergency vehicles were dispatched, and 1329 households and 4774 people were evacuated.
