According to Xin Xin, chief meteorological analyst of China weather, this typhoon impact period coincides with the astronomical spring tide. The sea level along the coast of Zhejiang and Shanghai is high. The low pressure attraction of the typhoon (lower than the original normal pressure, the pressure of the air column on the sea surface decreases, resulting in the rise of the sea surface) and the boost of the onshore wind (east wind) may make the sea level higher and higher, That is, astronomical spring tides and storm surges form a superposition.
