[plant morphology] Aristolochia ovata
Climbing subshrub, glabrous. Leaves alternate, ovate to oblong ovate, 6-21 cm long, 5.5-14.5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cordate, both sides auricular, entire; petiole 3-12 cm long, ventral surface shallowly furrowed. Raceme axillary, petiole about 1 cm long, hairy; bract 1, ovate, small, margin densely hairy; calyx tubular, hairy, 5-7.7 cm long, dark purple, the lower part expanded into a ball, inner wall with four tufts of pubescence, neck contracted, curved, front end side open, trumpet shaped, with 5 veins; stamen 6, combined with style; style 6, deeply split, cone pointed, ovary Long columnar, 6-sided, inferior, 6-locular. Capsule suborbicular, ca. 4 cm in diameter. Seeds numerous, flat and thin, obtuse triangular, margin extending, pale grayish yellow wings. The flowering period is from May to June.
