Perennial herbs, 15-20 cm high. The stem is fine, branched and dense. Root leaves small, obovate, flowering often dead. Dense spikes forming panicles; rachis curved; calyx bright yellow, membranous; corolla yellow, in calyx tube.
It grows on dry hillside, Gobi, dry sandy land and dry grassland. Distributed in Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinjiang and other places.
