[plant morphology] Catalpa bungei, also known as Catalpa bungei and catalpa catalpa.

Deciduous trees, up to 15 m high. The trunk is straight and the branches are straight up. The leaves are simple, opposite, triangular, broadly ovate to broadly ovate elliptic, 6-16 cm long and 6-12 cm wide, apex long pointed, base truncate to broadly cuneate, entire, sometimes 5-6 pairs of sharp teeth near base, glabrous on both sides; petiole 2-8 cm long, sometimes pilose. Raceme, corymbose, with 3-12 flowers; apex of sepal with sharp crack; corolla white, bell shaped, 2-lipped, about 4cm long, upper lip with 2 smaller lobes, lower lip with 3 larger lobes, with purple spots inside; stamens 4, 2 strong; ovary superior, style 1, stigma 2-lobed. Capsule slender, 25-50 cm long, about 5 mm wide. Seeds narrowly oblong, ca. 1 cm long, ca. 2 mm wide, with long white hairs clustered at both ends. The flowering period is April. The fruit period is from July to August.

Born in fertile mountains. It is distributed in Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Yunnan and Guizhou,
