Evergreen shrubs, 1-2m high, smooth and glabrous. Stem erect, yellow inside. Leaflets 2-3 pairs, leathery and thick, elliptic, with the smallest leaflet at the base, gradually larger upward, 4-13cm long, 1.5-4.5cm wide, apex acuminate, spiny, margin with 2-4 sparse serrations, apex also spiny, base gradually narrowed, dark green on the top, glossy, yellowish green below, covered with waxy white powder, without petiole, petiole long, near base The flower stalk is filiform, with 1 scaly bract at the base; sepals are 9, 3-row, ovate, and the outermost row is smaller; petals are 6, dark purple, elliptic, with nectary at the base; stamen is 6; pistil is 1, ovary is superior, ovate, stigma is flat and central concave, without style. Berries ovate, dark blue. The flowering period is from August to September.
It is distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan and other places.

Evergreen shrubs, up to 2 m high. The young stem is smooth and glabrous, and the old stem is gray and grooved. Leaflets are usually 4-7 pairs, sessile, opposite, leathery, of different sizes, ovate elliptic to oblong, 4.5-7 cm long and 2.5-3 cm wide, with smaller basal leaflets, 2-6 upper teeth, apex pointed, base cuneate or asymmetric, green above, glossy below, light green below; petioles short, broad; stipules linear, 1 cm long .
