Qu Wanli
Qu Wanli (1907-1979) was named Yipeng. Donghua village, Wanglu Township, Yutai County, Shandong Province. He died in Taiwan on February 16, 1979.

Qu Wanli (1907-1979) was named Yipeng. Donghua village, Wanglu Township, Yutai County, Shandong Province.
In 1922, he was admitted to the Seventh Provincial middle school.
He entered Jinan private Donglu middle school in 1925.
After the Jinan massacre in 1928, he returned to Yutai and served as the director of the county library and teacher of the normal school. Soon, he went to Beiping to enter private Yuwen college.
He graduated in 1931, worked in Shandong Provincial Library, and later served as the director of editing and collection department.
In 1937, when the Anti Japanese war broke out, in order to preserve the Chinese ancient books, he assisted the curator to transport the gold and stone artifacts, books, calligraphy, famous paintings and rubbings to Wanxian County, Sichuan Province for preservation.
In the winter of 1940, he worked in the central library.
In 1942, he joined the archaeological group of Institute of history and language, Academia Sinica.
In 1945, he moved to Nanjing with the Central Library and successively served as the director of the compilation and special collection section.
In 1949, he went to Taiwan with the Central Library of the Kuomintang government. He was employed by the "national" Taiwan University as an associate professor and director of the document section.
In 1951, he devoted himself to teaching research.
He was promoted to Professor in 1953.
In 1957, he was a researcher and acting director of the Institute of history and language, Academia Sinica.
In 1967, he was the director of the National Central Library of Taiwan.
From 1968 to 1973, he was professor of the Department of Chinese literature and director of the Institute of Chinese literature at National Taiwan University.
In 1972, he was elected as an academician of Taiwan's Academia Sinica for his achievements in the research of pre Qin historical materials, ancient Chinese classics and oracle bone inscriptions, especially in the study of Chinese catalogue and collation.
From 1972 to 1978, he served as a standing committee member of the "Ministry of education" of Taiwan, presided over the promotion evaluation of junior college teachers, and successively served as a professor in the Institute of Chinese Studies of Taiwan's "national" Normal University and the Institute of Chinese literature of Soochow University.
From January 1973 to July 1978, he concurrently served as the director of the Institute of history and language of Academia Sinica in Taiwan, and successively applied for the post of research fellow of Princeton Institute of advanced studies in the United States, visiting professor of Princeton University, visiting professor of East Asia Department of University of Toronto in Canada, and visiting professor of Nanyang University in Singapore. He devoted his whole life to teaching and Research on ancient Chinese classic literature and oracle bone inscriptions with outstanding achievements. His works include the interpretation of the book of songs, the interpretation of the book of Shang, the guide to ancient books, the Modern Annotation and translation of the book of Shang, the textual research and interpretation of the first edition of the Yin Ruins, the collection and proof of the remnant characters in the book of Shang of Han Shi Jing, the collation of the remnant characters in the book of Han Wei Shi Jing, and the outline of book edition. There are more than 20 Monographs on bibliography, edition, collation, falsification, classics, historiography, and text exegesis, and papers on poetry, book, book of changes, and ancient literature history have been compiled into the collection of Shuyu Lun Xue. He has been to the United States twice and compiled the "rare Chinese books of Princeton University East Library"
He died in Taiwan on February 16, 1979.

He devoted his whole life to teaching and Research on ancient Chinese classic literature and oracle bone inscriptions with outstanding achievements and abundant works. His main works include collation and record of the remnant characters of the Han and Wei stone classics, interpretation of the book of songs, guide to ancient books, collection of Shuyu Lun Xue, interpretation of Shangshu, essentials of book edition, textual research and interpretation of Yinxu scripts.
