Hu Yongnian (1905-1980), the word Shi Xi, No. Heshan. Sanfang village, Shifang Town, Wuping County, Fujian Province. He has successively worked as a teacher in Wuping Shifang primary school, Chengxiang Central Primary School, Wuping County junior high school, provincial Shanghang middle school, Jiangxi Ruijin Fuyou middle school and Wuping No.1 middle school. Hu Yongnian was skilled in calligraphy, good at chanting, especially in literature and history. He is the author of spare time poetry notes. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he trekked many times in Wuping mountains and rivers and compiled the textbook of rural geography of Wuping County.

Life story

Hu Yongnian was born in Sanfang village, Shifang Town, Wuping County in 1905. In 1921, he graduated from primary school and entered the Seventh Provincial middle school.

In the 15th year of the Republic of China, he was admitted to Xiamen Jimei Normal University. He lives frugally, studies diligently, obtains teacher and student's praise. After graduation, he has been engaged in education for more than 30 years. He has successively served as the teaching director of Wuping Shifang, Chengxiang Central Primary School and private Weiyang middle school, and as the teacher of Huian public school, Tongan public school, Wuping County junior high school, provincial Shanghang middle school, Shanghang County junior high school, Jiangxi Ruijin Fuyou middle school, Wuping private Lingyan middle school and Wuping No.1 middle school, training thousands of students.

Hu Yongnian was skilled in calligraphy, good at chanting, especially in literature and history. He is the author of spare time poetry notes. Yongnian has long been a middle school geography teacher with rich professional knowledge and skillful teaching skills. Teaching is conscientious and responsible, keep improving and prepare lessons carefully. According to the task and content of geography teaching, he often chooses intuitive teaching to get good results. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, there was a serious shortage of geographical wall maps and models. Yongnian carefully drew dozens of teaching wall maps. In class, he used vivid language to tell the students. From time to time, he used a pointer to point out the geographical location of the boundary, terrain, mountains, rivers, traffic arteries and cities on the wall maps. It is concise and accurate, and is still praised by people today. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he had trekked the mountains and rivers of Wuping many times, compiled the textbook of rural geography of Wuping County, and made three-dimensional terrain models of Fujian Province and Wuping County. He also used his spare time to collect and sort out the data of the peasant uprising in Wuping during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and led the students to excavate Neolithic relics such as stone, stone arrow and stone axe in dayangping and tingzigang in the south of the city. These models and cultural relics were sent to the Provincial Exhibition and won the second prize.

After retiring in 1959, he continued to contribute to the construction of his hometown. He often investigates the topography of his hometown and makes detailed records; he often goes to Shifang middle school to listen to geography lessons to help young teachers improve their teaching; he tutors teachers and students of Sanfang primary school to make map models; he makes his own meteorological forecasting instruments, which are installed in the vegetable garden. No matter how cold or hot, wind or rain, he records the weather three times a day. For more than ten years, he obtains valuable data and compiles the data This paper introduces the relationship between meteorology and agriculture in Wuping and provides valuable information for relevant departments.

He died in the spring of 1980 at the age of 75.
