Forever honorary president of Huagong Hong Kong Alumni Association
nearly half a century back in time. At the end of 1957, Cai Jianzhong, a representative of the track and field team of Guangdong Province, the record holder of the 400m hurdles in Guangdong Province, and an excellent student of Huagong architecture department, returned to his alma mater after the first national track and field games. He was mistakenly labeled as a "rightist" and sent to the heavy machinery farm to work. At the lowest ebb and darkest moment of his life, he quietly calculated his future life direction. In the heavy labor, his outstanding performance won the trust of the leaders of the farm and heavy machinery plant at that time. In 1962, Cai Jianzhong left his native hometown and family and came to Hong Kong alone with tears in his eyes. He knew that as long as he had perseverance and courage, with the unswerving spirit cultivated by South China University of technology and the good physique trained in sports and farms for many years, it was entirely possible for him to find a way out in Hong Kong, a metropolis full of overseas Chinese. Not long after he came to Hong Kong, Cai Jianzhong met many alumni of Chinese workers. With the help of his classmates in the Department of architecture, he soon found a job in the construction company as a site supervisor. After one or two years of hard work, Cai Jianzhong established certain social relations and accumulated a certain amount of funds. He began to consider the major events of his life - starting a family and starting a business. In the middle of 1966, Cai Jianzhong was in harmony with his younger martial sister from Hong Kong and Luo Tongtong from the Institute of chemical engineering. Shortly after his marriage, Cai Jianzhong and his friends set up the earliest knitting factory in Hong Kong, Gaotai dyeing factory. Due to the lack of funds, although the company can make money, it is only enough to reinvest and expand production, so life is still very miserable. Thanks to his wife's silent support. After nearly ten years of development, Gaotai dyeing factory has developed into a large-scale Futian textile group. The company was listed in Hong Kong in the 1980s. At the same time of raising funds from the society, we should continue to expand production. He has learned a set of methods that are fast, economical and self innovated in China, and he has invested in the latest production equipment. The annual average benefit is double-digit or even double-digit, and the net profit after tax is calculated in 100 million yuan. In 1996, Cai Jianzhong sold all his shares to his partners and left the factory where he had worked hard and succeeded. At the same time, Cai Jianzhong's friends in the textile industry and colleagues from some old companies hope that he will take the lead in setting up a textile printing and dyeing company. A year later, in the alluvial plain of Wanqingsha in Panyu, Hutai textile city was established, the latest production equipment was installed, and soon put into production. At present, the plant has been expanded to phase IV. Under the leadership of CAI Jianzhong, everyone worked hard. The factory has already recovered the investment cost and reinvested with good returns, creating a bright future for its future development. Mr. Cai Jianzhong is a man who values friendship, feelings and nostalgia. Soon after he came to Hong Kong, he took part in the organization and establishment of Guangzhou sixth middle school, Guangzhou Peiying and South China Institute of Technology (the predecessor of South China University of Technology) Hong Kong Alumni Association, and served as president, honorary president and forever honorary president respectively. He constantly regards his achievements as the result of his alma mater's cultivation, and shares the successful experience and fruits with his alma mater. He has provided sponsorship funds and suggestions for secondary education in Guangzhou, donating millions of yuan to his alma mater Guangzhou No.6 middle school and Peiying middle school respectively. Even his violin teacher he Anton's Guangzhou Peizheng middle school has been donated nearly one million yuan as he Anton's music scholarship fund. He also invited the principals of Guangzhou middle schools to visit Hong Kong and exchange views. Because of his great contribution to Guangzhou's education, he was awarded "honorary citizen of Guangzhou" in 1998, and set up a good image of "educational entrepreneur". All these are not only the glory of alumni of South China University of technology, but also the glory of the people of Hong Kong and Guangzhou. For more than 30 years, alumni Cai Jianzhong has been concerned about and supported the development of his alma mater. As early as 1979, he led a group of more than 30 alumni from Hong Kong to visit his alma mater and was received and entertained by President Zhang at that time. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of South China University of technology, Mr. Cai and his wife generously donated HK $10 million to the future science and technology building of their alma mater. This is the highest single one-time donation in the history of alma mater. We hope that in the near future, more alumni of South China University of technology and other universities in China will make greater contributions to their alma mater, society and the country, just like Cai Jianzhong's alumni. In 1934, Cai Jianzhong was born in a scholarly family in Guangzhou. He was born in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. From 1948 to 1951, Cai Jianzhong was a member of the orchestra and track and field team. He was the principal violinist and conductor of Guangzhou student orchestra, His music teacher is Zhao Liangzu, a member of Guangzhou Track and field team. He is the creator of Guangzhou 400m hurdle record. He graduated from Guangzhou No.6 middle school in 1956 and was admitted to the Department of architecture of South China University of Technology (now South China University of Technology). During the anti rightist period in 1958, he was classified as a rightist, expelled from school and sent to work in the farm affiliated to Guangzhou heavy machinery factory. In 1962, he went to Hong Kong. Not long after he came to Hong Kong, Mr. Cai Jianzhong met many alumni of South China University of technology. With the help of his students from the Department of architecture, he soon worked in an architectural firm. As Hong Kong's economy was in the initial stage of rising, the construction industry was very prosperous. Therefore, it was not difficult for Chinese students, especially those from the Department of architecture and civil engineering, to find a way to survive, Mr. Cai Jianzhong has established certain social and interpersonal relations and accumulated certain funds. In 1966, China launched the "Cultural Revolution", and all production almost stopped. Hong Kong is the South Gate of China. All foreign businessmen who come to China to order goods go through Hong Kong. Because they can't order goods in China, they turn to Hong Kong to order goods. As a result, Hong Kong's light industry takes off, especially the textile bleaching and dyeing industry and the garment industry. China's property market is stagnant because of political uncertainty. At this historical moment, Cai Jianzhong seized the opportunity to transfer from the construction industry to the bleaching and dyeing industry in time. In 1969, he and his friends raised HK $150000 to set up Gaotai dyeing factory. At that time, because orders from all walks of life were gathered in Hong Kong, the supply of industrial plants was not enough. As a result, they rented more than 7000 square feet on the fourth floor of the multi-storey industrial plant for production. In the past, most of the bleaching and dyeing plants could only be set up on the ground floor due to the problems of drainage and steam discharge. Because Cai Jianzhong was familiar with the architectural design, he solved all the problems and made the most effective use of the plant. Bleaching and dyeing was not his profession. Fortunately, at that time, two Chinese Alumni Liu Jiahan and Huo Jianzhong worked in the laboratory of a German Hester dyestuff company in Hong Kong. They gave a lot of valuable experience and guidance, and more importantly, they gave Cai Jianzhong confidence. Later, Huo Jianjian resigned from his position in a large company and came to work as the director of CAI Jianzhong's small factory. The profit of the factory in the first year was twice that of the investment. Cai Jianzhong's confidence increased greatly and decided to invest all profits in production equipment and expand production. After a good start in the first year, everyone was more enthusiastic. The area of the factory soon increased to 10000 square feet, and the business volume doubled in the second year. When the factory was built, there were only more than 30 employees, which doubled in the second year. Since then, the annual turnover of the factory has been continuously doubled, the factory has been expanding, and the employees have been increasing.
