Su Shishu, born in March 1949, is a Man nationality person without party affiliation. He was once the chairman of the Chinese Calligrapher Association.

At present, he is a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, honorary chairman of the Chinese Calligraphy Association, chairman of the Chinese publishing Promotion Association, and honorary director of the Calligraphy Research Institute of Tsinghua Academy of fine arts.

Main achievements

Su Shishu loved calligraphy and seal cutting when he was young. He was a teacher of Mr. Liu Boqin when he was young, and became a teacher of Mr. Qigong when he was young and middle-aged. He is engaged in the creation and research of calligraphy and seal cutting, as well as brick and stone portraits of Han Dynasty, as well as stele and rubbings of past dynasties. He is also good at calligraphy, and is good at making seal script with Jihao, which is very characteristic. Seal cutting originated in the Qin Dynasty and the Han Dynasty.

In recent years, in order to carry forward Chinese traditional culture and pay attention to the development and cultivation of young people, Su Shishu has repeatedly submitted proposals to promote Chinese character culture and calligraphy education in the national two sessions. In 2009, at the Third Plenary Session of the second session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, he made a speech on behalf of the CPPCC National Committee's calligraphy studio on "it is urgent to strengthen the education of Chinese character writing for teenagers". In 2010, the NPC and CPPCC, together with several members, submitted a proposal on strengthening the education of Chinese character writing for teenagers. In March 2014, the NPC and CPPCC issued a speech entitled "writing Chinese characters well and being Chinese people well". Since 2015, he has visited more than 100 primary and secondary schools in all provinces of China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to investigate the development of calligraphy courses. In September 2019, in order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China, Su Shishu's calligraphy report exhibition of "promoting Chinese characters and singing for China" was held in the cultural and Historical Museum of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference. For more than ten years, he has devoted himself to the popularization and promotion of calligraphy education in primary and secondary schools, and to the spread of Chinese excellent traditional culture.
