Tang Degang, a historian, has a saying: "Bo Yang's life, from the day he was born, has become a standardized image in traditional Chinese Society - he is a little orphan who was abused by his late mother."
In 1949, I met my teacher Wu Wenyi in Shanghai and went to Taiwan. In 1953, he published his first article. In 1960, he began to write essays in the name of Bo Yang.

However, his will was not depressed, and he insisted on completing three manuscripts in prison: outline of Chinese history, lineage of Chinese emperors, Queens, princesses and princesses, and chronology of Chinese history. After he was released from prison in 1978, the Taiwan authorities ordered him to write a column for the China times only after he was not allowed to mention the past, repeat the old tune, and expose the darkness of Taiwan society. After he got out of prison, he married poetess Zhang Xianghua. In 1979, South Korea invited Bo Yang and Zhang Xianghua to attend the poet conference, but the Taiwan authorities refused on the ground that political prisoners could not leave the country.

Character story
The local accent does not change
Bo Yang's daughter, Guo Suping, recalls her father's little things: his father likes to eat Huixian's eggs and fragrant rice, and his father never forgets them. In addition, after so many years, my father has traveled all over the world, and he still speaks his native dialect. I remember when I met my father for the first time in Hong Kong, other people couldn't understand me, so I asked my daughter to be an interpreter. Later, when my father was older and spoke with a heavier accent, people around him couldn't understand
Origin of pseudonym
The pseudonym of Bo Yang was in Taiwan at that time
Cross highway
Before opening to traffic, he was invited to visit and inscribe the scenery along the road. At that time, the last stop of the tunnel at "gubaiyang" was not yet completed. When he got home, he felt a sense of writing. Therefore, he used "Baiyang" as his pseudonym, which has been used to this day.
However, there is another way of saying about the origin of the name of Bo Yang: there are more cypress trees and more poplar trees in his hometown Henan. Cypress has scaly leaves, cracked dark brown skin, ice and snow evergreen, tree age up to a thousand years. Poplars stand tall in the deep mountains and valleys. When the wind comes, they make a sound and move people's minds. This is the character of Bo Yang and the origin of his name.
When many people refer to Bo Yang, they will hesitate whether to read B ó y á ng or B ǎ iy á ng. In fact, the correct pronunciation should be B ó y á ng. Because traditional Chinese characters continue to be used in Taiwan, the pronunciation of many characters also keeps the ancient pronunciation. The ancient pronunciation of "Bo" is B ó.
