Zeng Yandong
Zeng Yandong was born in 1750, the 15th year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty. His name is Qingzhan, and his name is qiru. His ancestral home is Jiaxiang, Shandong Province. He is the 67th generation grandson of Zeng Zi. Renzi (1792) was a painter, novelist and dramatist from Qianlong to Daoguang.
Life of the characters
According to Jiaxiang's genealogy of Zeng's ancestors, his ancestors were granted the title of doctor of Five Classics in the Imperial Academy in 1539, and he has been a hereditary title ever since. Zeng Yandong's father, named Shangwei, was an eunuch. He was an official in Jiangnan and once lived in Boluo County, Guangdong Province. Zeng Yandong traveled north and South with his father when he was young. His childhood experience not only laid a foundation for his broad mind, but also opened up his bumpy life.
He was bumpy in twilight years until he was 50 years old, and he was recommended by the people in Hubei. He was appointed to the Jiangxia magistrate in Hubei and later transferred to the county magistrate. Zeng Yandong has a clear and stubborn personality. He once wrote in the day long essay: "I will do what people can't do, and I will subtract what people can't reduce." According to this character, his experience in Chinese officialdom can be imagined. When he was 63 years old, he was angry with the governor for solving the case, but he insisted that "this official can go to the case without moving", and was eventually demoted and exiled to Wenzhou.
After he was exiled to Wenzhou with his family, Zeng Yandong first lived in the home of Zeng Liting, a descendant of Zeng Ruzhang, an old official with the same surname. Zeng Liting lived in the west of Wenzhou County, and his house was named "yilvyuan". He read the friendship of the same surname, and received Zeng Yandong's "Ru Hua Lou". The next year, Zeng Yandong built his own house under a banyan tree near Baoan bridge. Here, facing Jiushan lake, the scenery is just right, so he named his residence "Xiaoxihu". He wrote a pair of couplets on the door: "since the crown was once riding a tiger, it is better to draw a dragon than to close the household."
In 1820, Emperor Daoguang ascended the throne. Zeng Yandong was pardoned, but he was poor and could not return to his hometown. About ten years later, he died in Wenzhou.
Zeng Yandong is an uninhibited person. He is good at painting and calligraphy, especially in figure painting. The local customs and all kinds of life are included in his composition. In terms of skills, the freehand brushwork style of bold pen and ink wins. Engraved seal, the ancient extraordinary, who are all regarded as arch Bi, but poor self-defense. In modern painting, especially in the field of figure painting, there are many painters influenced by Zeng Yandong, such as Wang Zhen and Feng Zikai. However, there is a lack of understanding of his position in the painting world, so Mr. Cheng Shifa, a famous contemporary painter, is quite aggrieved. In Zeng Yandong's personage book, he wrote: "the seven Taoists are the descendants of Qingteng (Xu Wei). They are all successful in poetry, prose, CI and music, and show their coquettishness from the differences between calligraphy and painting and the secular world. Yu said, "it's a great pity that people don't pay attention to Zeng Yandong." It can be said that they are highly respected.

The collection of classical Chinese novels xiaodoupeng has 16 volumes (also known as xiaodoupeng notes and xiaodoupeng gossip). It is a valuable collection of short stories in classical Chinese after Liaozhaizhiyi. It takes Liaozhai as an example. Although it is not the best in thought and art, it is far more than Yuewei thatched cottage notes, which came out at about the same time. However, it has been rarely known for decades. Except for the description of Xidi bibliography and comprehensive catalogue of Chinese series, it is hardly mentioned in various literary dictionaries or treatises. So in 1981, when some newspapers and journals introduced this book, they called it "new discovery". In fact, before liberation, there was a reprint of this book in the form of Juzhen.
In addition, the single fold drama xiaodoupeng is attached to xiaodoupeng and titled Shuyi. Some people call it Shuhuai, while others call it xiaodoupeng directly. It is an autobiographical short play that plays on the writer's personal life scenes.
Other works include poetry collection "Ya ran jueju", "Gu Rong Za Zhui", "seven Taoist poems", essay collection "Changri essays", painting theory "qiru painting sketch", "Wucheng ancient utensils illustration", etc.
