Taiwan's submarine self built follow-up budget may be completely deleted

According to the report, the Taiwan authorities' defense budget for next year includes a total amount of 284.08 billion yuan for the "third phase of submarine self construction and subsequent submarine construction" plan, with a total duration of 14 years. However, for the budget of nearly 2 billion yuan for next year's follow-up, Kuomintang representatives Ma Wenjun and Huang Ren jointly proposed to delete all of it, while Xu Qiaoxin proposed to reduce it by 1.796 billion yuan, leaving only 200 million yuan in the entire plan.

Kuomintang representative Chen Yongkang proposed to freeze the second phase prototype boat, while People's Party representative Lin Yijun proposed to freeze 580 million yuan until sea testing before the support can be mobilized.

Regarding the possibility of a complete deletion of the submarine budget, the head of Taiwan's defense department, Gu Lixiong, stated in an interview that if the budget cannot be allocated at that time, the entire project will be delayed for two years, and related pre construction operations will be interrupted as a result. This will certainly have a significant impact on the submarine's self construction, and we will actively communicate with the representatives of the people, hoping that they will agree to support the budget after the sea survey is passed.

Gu Lixiong said that now, citing the failure of the sea survey as a reason (obstruction), it will be impossible to prepare a budget for next year. We will have to wait until another year, and the entire project will be delayed.
