Huo Da, female, Hui nationality, was born in Beijing on November 26, 1945. She is a writer and national first-class screenwriter.

In 1966, he graduated from Beijing Institute of architecture and engineering, majoring in English. After graduation, he served as an interpreter of Beijing Municipal Bureau of landscape architecture and Beijing Municipal Bureau of cultural relics. In 1976, he was the screenwriter of Beijing TV Art Center and published his first novel don't forget her. He joined the Chinese Writers Association in 1983. In 1987, he wrote his first novel Muslim funeral, which was published in two issues of novel magazine. Through the rise and fall of the Muslim family "jade beam" for more than half a century, the book reveals the unique psychological structure of Chinese Muslims in the impact and integration of Chinese culture and Islamic culture, as well as the confusion and pursuit of the true meaning of life in the political and religious atmosphere, and truly shows the strange and ancient national customs and contradictory real life. This work was published by Beijing October literature and Art Publishing House in 1988, and broadcast in full by the Central People's radio in 1989 and 1991. It won the third Mao Dun Literature Award in 1991.

In 1988, he became a member of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and performed the duty of participating in and discussing state affairs. In 1990, he was invited to the United States to participate in the Iowa international writing program exchange activities. In 2004, he adapted his novella "red dust" into a drama script. In the same year, the drama won the excellent script award of national stage art project. In 2005, the drama "the world of mortals" was performed by the national dialect theater, directed by Cao Qijing and starred by Zhu Yuanyuan, Han Tongsheng, Bai Han, Liu Peiqi and Chen Qiang.

In March 2008, he was elected to the Standing Committee of the 11th CPPCC National Committee. In 2009, he was elected as a model of national unity and progress and was commended at the fifth national unity and progress commendation conference of the State Council. In 2010, he created a real life drama Haitang Hutong, which was staged by Wang Jiannan, director of China National Theatre of Chinese, and starred by song Chunli, Guo Donglin, Yang Lixin and Guo da.

In March 2013, he was elected to the Standing Committee of the 12th CPPCC National Committee. In 2015, "mending the cracks in the sky" was reprinted, and the new edition was revised by the author himself. Based on the ten million words of data collected by the author and the real records of conversations of 100 people, the tragic history of people with lofty ideals from all walks of life fighting after the "Hong Kong expansion" in the late 19th century was restored.
