Lei Lei (1696-1760), whose name is Cuiting, was born in Chengguan, Ninghua. Lei Chen was a 17-year-old student in Buxian county and studied in Aofeng Academy. At that time, Aofeng Academy was presided over by Cai Shiyuan, a full-time teacher of Emperor Qianlong and a famous Neo Confucianist who believed in Cheng Zhu's Neo Confucianism. So Lei became Cai Shiyuan's proud disciple. Lei Zhen respected and inherited Cheng Zhu's Neo Confucianism, advocated learning from reason and practicing it. He believed that Neo Confucianism should be based on the argument of "distinguish between the dangerous and the weak, overcome the ignorance repeatedly, and promote the rule of the world" advocated by Er Cheng and Zhu Zi, emphasizing "practice" and "practice" and advocating personal practice. He said: Zhu Zizhi is important, big and erudite, but scholars can't see it all over. Its main spirit is: respect to establish its foundation, poor reason to know, anti bow to practice. Under the guidance of this thought, we are committed to self-cultivation, rewarding the backward and taking the world as our duty. The monographs such as Xiangshan Chan Xue Kao and Yangming Chan Xue Kao fully illustrate his Neo Confucianism. Zhu Shi, a famous Neo Confucianist, thinks that Lei is "practical and knowledgeable"; Fang Bao, a librarian, praises Lei as "the first-class person in the world".

I want to let the emperor know the worries of the common people by drawing. If the emperor could not sympathize with the sufferings of the people, even if he invited me to be an official in the eight lift sedan chair, I would not enter the palace. "Of course, the truth of this legend is questionable. However, the friendship between Lei Chen and Huang Shen is a little bit obvious.
