Chen Xigui (1887-1952), also known as Sixiang, was born in Shuanghekou, Xixiang, Qimen County, Anhui Province.
Chen Xigui was a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. After the revolution of 1911, he pursued new learning, went to Anqing to study in Anhui excellent normal school, studied for 4 years, and returned to the village to teach private school after graduation. In 1933, he was the principal of Tafang Yuying primary school. In the 28th year of the Republic of China, he was a mathematics teacher in private Qichang junior high school. In the 33rd year of the Republic of China, he was a principal. The next year, he left his post and changed to a medical profession.
In his youth, Chen Xigui taught himself traditional Chinese medicine. Besides teaching, he often treated people for free. In the 19th year of the Republic of China, he passed by Jingdezhen and applied for the examination of traditional Chinese medicine. After leaving the post of president, he went to Jingdezhen to practice medicine. Chen Xigui is upright and kind-hearted. He treats all patients equally, regardless of the poor, the rich and the poor. If he meets poor patients, he will receive free treatment. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Xigui was in her sixties and still worked hard to learn western medicine. She went to the streets to vaccinate the masses with vaccinia. In 1950, he was rated as a model worker in Jingdezhen medical field. In May of the next year, in response to the government's call to "face the countryside", he went to jinggongqiao, which is more than 100 miles away from Jingdezhen, and was welcomed by the local people. On April 23, 1952, Chen Xigui went to Jingdezhen on business and returned to Jingdezhen via Gongqiao in the afternoon of that day. At 6 p.m., a farmer from chutianqiao came for a visit. He set out in the rain and went to majiaba. It was dark. Coupled with the outbreak of mountain torrents, the road was flooded and it was difficult to move forward. But he was eager to save people and waded forward in the dark. Because of the unfamiliar road, he lost his strength and fell into the water. He died at the age of 65.
